South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play launches October 7 photo

Xbox Live Arcade's South Park game has been ridiculously mute ever since it was announced at E3 in 2008. The game was coming to Comic-Con and we thought we'd have to wait until the show to find out what's in store, but now we know a name and a release date. Lucky us!

South Park Let's Go Tower Defence Play is the moniker, and the release date is October 7. As you may have guessed from the title, it's a tower defense game that is allegedly releasing to coincide with a fresh series of the satirical cartoon show. The game itself will debut at Comic-Con as part of a panel called, "Save South Park One Snowball At A Time."

I'm not that big a fan of tower defense games, but the lure of South Park may be enough to tempt me. The name along deserves at least a token glance.

Meh. Tower defense games are getting old, and South Park got old and tired like three seasons ago when they stopped making their own plots and decided to rely on riffing pop culture.

My wife and I watch random Southpark episodes every so often: it's one of our favorite collective shows. However, I agree with delicious: recently they've just been playing up pop culture and resorting to shock laughs. I really stopped liking the show when the "China Probrem" pulled a ton of "Family Guy long gags", the very thing they ripped on their competitors for in a full on two part episode.

I'll still get this, but I'm REALLY disappointed that after a YEAR of no updates on this game whatsoever, it's going to be a tower defense? I love me some TD, but there are way too many of them nowadays, and all you really need is Warcraft III. Disappointment all around! As South Park would say: rabble rabble rabble!

After all that build-up it's a tower defense game? As if there aren't enough out already. Screw that, even if it is South Park.

I liked it when SP had their own plots but think the episodes that rely on pop culture are really good too, the way they portray their thoughts about things around us on a daily basis is very well done I think.

Tower Defense games bore me, but Crystal Defenders was pretty good recently.

Either way, the most recent season of South Park was (as most people here already said) horrible. They used to have a really good formula of mature humor masked by fart jokes, so that they appealed to almost all audiences.
Now it seems like it's aimed solely at middle school children.

Since when was satire unwelcome?

They couldn't just port the N64 FPS? That had the weirdest weapons I've ever seen in an FPS? Chickens as sniper rifles? Pee-covered snowballs? Not to mention the alien device, which forced people to dance.

Well at least it's not a port of the PS1 games.

@runtheplacered: Satire is totally awesome, and South Park used to do it really well, but the problem with South Park is that that's all they do anymore. I guess my comment should've read, "...when they stopped making their own plots and decided to solely rely on riffing pop culture."

It just gets old having every episode focus on whatever's hot in the news last week.

I agree with MowDownJoe, I was hoping for a port or update of the N64 shooter. That game was tits. Tower defense titles are meh.

I am always hesitate when a popular Franchise gets a game, or in the case of Star War and LOTRs, 142 games every tens years, they always end up whatever engine and gameplay style is popular overlayed onto familiar images. BUT lets wait and C

Just watched some gameplay on GameTrailers... this would've made a really REALLY good beat 'em up. Probably very similar to the SImpsons arcade game.

Kind of weird making a Tower Defense game in the south park world. I agree that they should make a beat 'em up like the Simpsons arcade.
