PlayStation Move handholding coming to stores on Sept 11 photo

Don't worry about walking into your local Best Buy this fall and not being able to figure out how to use the PlayStation Move game kiosk -- Sony is hiring and training representatives for a nationwide in-store retail campaign.

Sources that wish to remain anonymous have passed along details of employment opportunities for representatives to assist in what is referred to as "the second largest product launch in PlayStations' history." The demo program will have trainees working kiosks in retailers like Best Buy and Walmart, assisting potential customers with the usage of Move, showing off features, and answering questions about the product which ships on September 19. The demos -- scheduled for peak retail traffic hours -- are said to start on September 11 and last through 2011, ending in late January.

Sony Computer Entertainment America will be dispatching specialist to provide some seven hours of Move training to candidates it hopes will already have a base knowledge of Sony's consoles, as well as its competition. Think you've got what it takes? Keep you ear to the ground in your area -- local sales and marketing teams are hiring now, with training beginning in late August.

Sony: Hi, would you like to try out PlayStation Move ?

Female customer: Sure!

Sony: Okay, here you go. Just get a firm grip on the controller and ...

Female customer: (lifts up skirt and pulls down pants)

Sony: ... Wait.. that's not.

Female customer: (Shoves PS Move into her twat). Am I doing it right ?

Sony: (disgusted look on face) ... Oh no. That's not how you do it at all.

Female customer: Oh look, it glows too!

@Hiltz: Wow. I came here to try to come up with something witty/douchebaggy/funny but after reading that, I cannot measure up.

I will however, go to these stores and troll the shit outta the Sony employee and asking things like 'How is this different than the Wii, which is more affordable and has the marios?' or 'So I heard it costs $500 if you want to play 2 players with this?' And of course: 'I bought this 4 years ago, it's called Wii, right?'

This just begs to be troll'd and recorded for YouTube. I know the internet shant let me down.

While the compartison between the Move and the Wii is fairly obvious to me I'm kind of curious as to how familiar a person has to be with electric dicks to start noticing how other devices look like electric dicks? Do you handle them daily or weekly? I just don't get it. And I know that if I said to any of my friends "hey have you seen how the PS Move looks like an electric dick" they'd look at me a little sideways.

Step 3: Stop being board to tears and start enjoying playing videogames again.

Maybe its because most of the wii's line up is so casual that it would make a 5 yearold kid and his 80 yearold grandmother roll their eyes. And, also, the wii's cpu and gpu is so underpowered that any worthwhile game that does end up on the system is going to look like s#$$@ and the frame rate is going to be so low and studdery that its going not going to play that well anyway. Not to mention that if you look at the move/eye/nav you will see that it is a huge improvement over the wii's next gen controller setup and can do more. Funny how you couldnt figure that out for yourself like everyone else lol.

Knowing what a penis looks like makes me gay? I just don't get your argument that traditional controllers are 'outdated' and somehow offer this dramatic difference in gameplay performance, which is an opinion at best. You're sitting here saying Move will be the end all to video game controllers, and at the same time bashing the Wii for having the exact same control setup. FPS's on the Wii have a lot of issues, the same issues they will have on PS3. Are you really that stupid? Hell, you haven't even used this thing yet, how do you know it will be more precise than a regular controller? The short is, you don't, and you're an idiot for even commenting on the matter since you really know nothing about the source. As if we needed another dipshit fanboy around here to make completely baseless comments about unreleased technology. Why don't we all just wait to pass judgment until the thing is actually out? Or at least base judgment on the device Move copied, instead of ripping on it like an idiot.

We have to remember that this is the first generation of mainstream motion control gaming. If we look back in history, was the traditional control ever perfected in any one generation ? The answer is no.

The traditional game controller that we've all used as kids has continued to evolve. The NES introduced the d-pad. The SNES brought the shoulder pads. The N64 brought the analog stick ,trigger button, rumble pak as well as 4 controller ports. The PS2 brought dual analog sticks, the Wii brought IR pointer as well as the accelerator and gyroscope motion control. Heck, even the GBA had tilt-based motion control peripheral. We've seen other peripherals such as light gun technology for arcade and home console shooters.

Kinect is taking things a step further by bringing in motion control without a controller. Even the 3DS has incorporated motion control into its hardware.Of course, we are currently unaware of its capabilities.

Quite frankly, as far as motion control goes, the technology is still in its stage of infancy. It's going to continue to evolve and get better.

1.If that is what you think a penis looks like move then you must be disformed.

2.I didn't say you were gay...you just seem know more about what dildos look like then i or anyother st8 guy in world.

3. You haven't played move ether so you are idiot for making it seem like it wont be more precise then a last gen controller.

2. even though the wii is framey and the graphics look like s@$# i have took the time to adjust the setup just right and guess what after awhile i was able to (no joke) run circles around people in the cod games while still keeping my aim on their head and if that wasnt enough i could still look keep the cam aimed ahead to see out in the distance...YOU CANT DO THAT WITH A LAST GEN CONTROLLER!!!. And if you would look at the way the move setup truly is and stop thinking about dildos you will see that it is even more precise then the wii is.

4. I hate the wii because of its line up and its cpu and gpu not because it has a next gen controller. And that is not me being a "fanboy" its just me pointing out its faults

5. the move setup has a camera that allows more dynamic gameplay. the sphere on top of it helps calibrate the internal senors %100 of the time and not just when its point leavel at the screen like the wii with wii motion+ does and less not for get that the ps3 has a stronger gpu and cpu so dev's can make worthwhile games on it. now starting to see how move is so much better then the wii's setup or do i need to go on?

Now go ahead and get hot headed again and make yet another misconception that i have to clear up.

@RenegadePanda,

As much as I really don't care about Move that much (though I AM interested in that Time Crisis bundle thing), and as much as dcsucks is totally fanboying out as much as anyone, there's actually a quite a bit of difference in what the Move can do over what the Wii can do (even with Motion Plus).

The Move IS obviously more precise than the Wii as you can see in any Move demo video. The Motion Plus is CLOSER to 1-to-1 movement than the regular Wiimote, but the Move actually IS 1-to-1, and obviously this means greater precision.

Since the Move makes use of the PSEye, it can also respond to body movement when a game wants it to. For example, you can physically duck to hide behind cover in the new Time Crisis game. The Wii would have no way to know you were ducking, it would only respond to, say, pointing the controller away from the screen.

Lastly, there has already been a developer or two stating that the Move adds considerable precision to FPS games and could pose an unfair advantage over people using a regular controller, in the same way that using a mouse and keyboard makes it easier to score headshots. And since we're talking about a system that ACTUALLY has a considerable amount of people playing it online, this could turn out to be a legitimate issue.

Personally, I prefer a regular controller any day of the week, but the fact that the Move is easily the most versatile of all the current and upcoming motion-control solutions makes me interested to see what Sony is going to with this versatility. I mean, it took a few years, but the Wii has now shown that motion controls CAN actually improve gameplay in some genres, so I'm a little interested to see what more precision, better graphics, and competent online play can add to these types of games.

Call me cautiously optimistic.

@ Jorshes

That's an interesting point.

Ultimately, I think profit and offering a new type of gameplay experience are why motion control is the big hardware in this generation.

From a financial standpoint, the success and popularity of products from companies such as Nintendo and Apple lead to other companies taking the opportunity to offer respective motion control products of their own. Of course, what this usually results in is imitation products both in terms of hardware and software. Anyway, motion control brought with it a way to break the psychological barrier to get non-gamers interested in and capable of playing video games in a way that a traditional game controller couldn't do.

This in turn lead to the growth of the gaming industry where companies could make a profit off of consumers other than the core gamer. The core gamer market as we know it may be loyal but its much smaller and for years had seen up to 3 major console manufactures compete against each other to attempt to capture a percentage of the market for themselves. It was like putting three sharks in a fish tank fighting over one seal. Why not put those sharks in the "blue ocean" where they'll have more room to potentially snatch more seals ?

The beginning of this generation saw an ignorant Microsoft and Sony underestimate Nintendo's approach with the Wii both in terms of motion control and its focus on the targeting the expanded audience. Ironically, the tables have turned when Microsoft and Sony realized that Nintendo's approach was defeating both of them combined. It took them a couple of years to understand why it would be wise to follow in Nintendo's footsteps and embrace motion control and target the expanded audience so that they too, can gain acquire more money.

Now for the actual answer to your question.

For years we have been playing with the traditional game controller. After all, it had become a standard of the industry adopted by all major home console manufacturers. In every generation, we have seen the game controller evolve, offering new buttons and features. However, the one thing that never changed was that the game controller was a pad with buttons and sticks.

Nintendo realized that the industry had largely ignored pursuing the revolution of the game controller, hence the Wii's codename. It wanted to offer something different in order to create a new type of gameplay experience that embraced an immersive, visceral and physical one instead of a method that is a more technical and indirect way to control video games. Instead of you just playing the game, you became part of the game because you theoretically had more control over the game due to the concept of 1:1 motion control based on how intuitive it is.

I believe the traditional game pad is here to stay. Even with motion control, there's the versatility of functions and sense of precision that a button offers that motion control can't yet replace and the same thing can be said of dual analog and the d-pad. Again, while motion control has its advantages and disadvantages, it is still in its infancy. Until the technology has gotten to an ideal point to become a standard for the industry to widely accept and not view just as an alternative controller method, then the traditional game controller is hear to stay.

Even Nintendo itself knew that motion controls alone are not suitable enough for all types of gameplay so that's why it included buttons and analog stick on the Wii controls. I think that Microsoft's approach with motion control with Kinect is perhaps too ambitious given that it completely abandons the use of buttons and analog sticks. That's going to potentially and severely hurt its capability of supporting only certain genres. Of course, given how Kinect is really being used as a separate home console experience aimed at the expanded audience, I doubt Microsoft isn't too concerned about it.

Also, (and this is mainly going out to dcsucks) to those who think it's strange that a heterosexual male knows what a dildo looks like:

Who do you think USES the most dildos per-capita? WOMEN.

What do heterosexual males do with their spare time? Watch naked women on the internet.

*CONNECTION EXPLAINED*

Frankly, I think it's far more unlikely for someone (anyone, of any sexuality) to NOT know what a dildo looks like.

That being said, I don't particularly think the Move looks that much like a dildo. It's semi-close to those big-ole vibrator-y things that seem to be all the rage in Asian adult cinema, but even that's reaching a bit.

Sure, the Move is indeed phallic, but so are microphones, hotdogs, flashlights, beer bottles, et al, and you don't see people constantly giggling and snickering about how they're all the same general shapes as dildos.

In conclusion: I can't wait to get my hands on that shaft and take it for a ride.

The light from the LED sphere travels from the sphere to the PS Eye at exactly 299,792,458 m/s (approximately 186,282 miles per second)so 1:1 motion tracking is no sweat for PS Move.

Sony has put almost zero marketing muscle behind this....and the price for more than 1 player + a PS3 System is going to drive the mainstream away from this in droves.

The only question now is will the MOVE end up as non-supported as the PS2 HDD???
