Soulcalibur on XBLA this Wednesday photo

When I think of Soulcalibur, two things always come to my mind: the first being "transcending history and the world, a tale of swords and souls eternally retold," and the second being "best fighting game ever."

I'm sure there are quite a few of you who think otherwise, but you have to admit, Soulcalibur is still a damn fine game. But is it worth spending 800 Microsoft Points just so you can play it again on your Xbox 360?

Sure, the Xbox LIVE Arcade version is in HD, but there are a few drawbacks to the remake as well. Multiplayer is offline only, the game is still presented in 4:3, and finally, Mission Mode has been removed (the Art Gallery is still available though).

Also hitting XBLA on Wednesday is a 280-question expansion pack for Wits & Wagers that will run you 320 Microsoft Points.

I got into the series with SCII, so I'm not all crazy excited about this.

No mission mode = no sale. That was my favorite part besides multiplayer of course.

That's total bullshit that 360 gets Soul Calibur and PS3 doesn't. The only thing that kept this article from making me totally depressed is the hot girl in the Noisebot add.

Damn it, I have yet to get a chance to play this series. I bought a legit copy of SCII and it didn't play on my PS2 >:-( now I see this... and I don't own a 360 yet. Grrrr. Some day... when SCIII comes out perhaps.

Why would I pay for a gimped version of a game I still own for my Dreamcast? No online multiplayer AND no story/mission mode? WTF?

I will be downloading this, if only so I can play it with the girl without having to dig my Dreamcast out of storage. Mission Mode isn't too big a loss for me (I found it tedious), but lack of online play is a bummer.

No multi = not buying. Besides, I own the Japanese version on my DC.

@ Mxyz,
Why waste 800 MS points when you could just dig your DC out of storage!? Somebody's lazy.

Never played this version, but SC3 (or was it SC 2) is backwards compatible so I can always play that instead. They're pretty much the same no?

What's really stupid is that a lot of people will probably download it not realising it doesn't have online play.

@ luvmysegadc: You've obviously never seen my storage shed. The last team I sent to recover my DC never came back.

There could have been a reason for no online, but I don't see why mission mode was cut. Anyway, pass.
