As Niero explained earlier, most of Destructoid’s readership fits into a certain demographic (male, American, boobs-in-face-phile). I’m part of that group myself, so I wasn’t terribly excited by the above video. It shows off about a minute of footage from Soulcalibur IV with two fights: Hilde (new character) vs. Raphael, and Sophitia vs. Voldo.
I mean, what else is there to say? The characters are duking it out in good-looking arenas, but really, I hope Hilde has an alternate costume that shows off more of her assets. We’ve already got Ashlotte as a rather flat-chested fighter, and she fills that quota (which is 1) nicely. I think that Voldo’s pre-fight stance (where he’s just standing there walking in place, doing his limb-twisting capoeira-esque thing) looks dumb, but hey, I’m not a Soulcalibur guy, so maybe people like that kind of thing.
Perhaps if Hilde removed her armor’s breastplate...

my favorite fighting series: soul caliber! i'm wanting to know more info on online multi player and features.i'll have this day ffncking one! #1_in_the_hood_G!!
Call me batshit crazy but I've never even played a Soul Calibur game before. The fluidity of the gameplay is definietly arousing my interests though...
and voldo didn't even get a hit in! shows the skill of whosoever was playing him. he's a great low attack fighter with good reach and he conforms his body into the shape of a tire and rolls you out. fnck yeah!
I'm pretty excited about how Rapahel's model looks. He continues to look like a badass, and I'll definitely enjoy kicking ass with him even more in SC4.
Ahh, and Destructoid continues to pander to the least common denominator. Keep up that frat boy attitude guys, really.
It amazes me how a site with great articles like the Memory Cards and other segments can at the same time write completely sexist, misogynist drivel like this garbage.
Simultaneously elevating gaming blogs and yet setting the gamer image back ten years all at the same time. Outstanding.
@Kia
Though I dont think we should be blamed for having testosterone producing testicles (obviously refering to the males, unless you gals are hiding something), I agree with you a bit.
I dont want Destructoid to turn into Kotaku.
Perhaps it wont be long until we have several posts about panty shots and perverted figurines.
"Hit the jump for NSFW pics! Sooooooo embarrasing!"
Geez, Samit, easy there, horndog. :P I actually find the idea of a hot girl in knight's armor really appealing. Mmmm. Toga Chick was hot too, though, I admit.
And I really love Steampunk Cyborg Girl. She's awesome. And no, none of them have names.
I'm a little annoyed at how plain Voldo and Sophitia look compared to the brand new characters. It looks like the team is taking more focus on the 15 or so new characters (14 hot females, 1 Star Wars of course) and are failing to upgrade the older characters.
I severely worry about all of the people here who apparently think Raphael is anything but a giant pile of gothic wish-i-were-a-vampire phlegm.
I can't play Raphael because two minutes of watching him prance about in his dickie makes me want to lose the fight just to see him get his ass kicked. Just like that guy in the first video up there... except that was obviously just the computer set to easy and not a real person.
I am looking forward to kicking all kinds of ass with Hilde. She looks pretty great.
And for the love of god(s), Voldo creeps my shit right out. More than his appearance, it's the way he moves. It's just... uuuugggghhhhh. It kind of reminds me of Buffalo Bill, dancing in front of his mirror, I think.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
...and of course Yoda
And if Hilde stays as fast as she looks with that kind of range, I think I may have a new main...
Oh, and SUPPOSEDLY, you can knock pieces of armor off characters using the new guard crush system so maybe we'll see some Hilde-breast after all.
