For those of you itching to experience the world of Soul Calibur with extra waggle, please find enclosed a batch of sixteen shiny new screens from Namco Bandai's spin-off adventure game. While some might be skeptical of Soul Calibur Legends, the fact that these screens contain both a dragon and a floating Egyptian sarcophagus of death is enough to convince me that this game is worth keeping an eye on. There are not enough floating death sarcophagi in videogames today.
Graphically, it's looking how you expect Wii games to look at the moment -- just like PlayStation 2 title, but a relatively pretty one. All I personally care about is that Ivy looks as kinky and up for it as ever, which is the most important factor of all. Also, as a man who is terrible at fighting games, seeing the Soul Calibur series take a brief detour into the realm of action-adventuring has certainly piqued my interest somewhat. Not a lot, but a little. Enjoy the screens and stick with Destructoid for more information as and when we get it.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I really, really, really hope this is nothing like that.
The Wii doesn't need this game to be good, as it already has enough good games coming between Aug and Dec. But still, Namco shouldn't be turning out half-assed stuff like this for the Wii or any console.
No pun intended.
I LOL'd
Fingers crossed!
Horrible amateurish camera angles? Check
Bland colour scheme? Check
Using characters from a well known franchise in order to sell an otherwise entirely forgettable piece of spftware? Check
PS2 controls with waggle over the top? Check
No one can tell right now if this game is going to be good or not? Surely everyone can see it's a piece of crap.
This game will suck and blow at the same time. How do I know? Just look at it, it's a PS2 bound game, not only in appearance but in gameplay too. It won't feature one to one movement and it won't feel like a step up from traditional control.
I said Umbrella Chronicles will suck and got slated for it, so I maintain UC will suck and so will this. So many developers STILL don't get the Wii, Namco is obviously one of those developers.
Take a look at Mario Galaxy, that is the blueprint for how all action adventure games should handle on the Wii, you can pretty much forget all previous efforts until that game comes out. The Wii remote is designed to free the player, allowing them to express themselves, it was not designed to replace button pressing with waggle.
I'll definitely give it a rental at some point in the future
