The good news is that the upcoming Wii title, Soul Calibur Legends, is not a collectible card game. The bad news is ... well, there really isn't that much bad news!

Based on the details over at 1up, Soul Calibur Legends (a third person action adventure) looks like it could be a shining beacon of hope on an unfortunately short list of compelling Wii titles (don't hit me). While not much is known about the storyline, Namco Bandai has indicated that, while Seigfried will be a major player, old favorites and "new faces" will be playable.

Control wise the game will incorporate both the nunchuck and the Wiimote simultaneously. This will likely involve looking like an idiot in real life, but some sweet stuff is going to be happening on screen, as you learn new attacks and gain experience.

There are no screen shots of the game in action, but I'd venture to guess we'll see something visually similar to Soul Calibur III. One thing it certainly won't look like is the killer concept art/wallpaper 1up got their hands on.

Still excited? You should be. But a word of caution -- the last time Namco Bandai tried to pull a stunt like this, it accidentally released Death By Degrees (starring Nina from Tekken). My stomach turns just thinking about, and I'd prefer if we don't mention that again.

I really want to watch PvP on the wii, I mean really, if busted TV's, broken ankles and bruises on your body wasnt enough by playing single player. Heck! have 2 people duke it out holding the Wii-mote by the strap-on, let hell loose!

The concepts look very god of war. Soul calibur trappings, GoW gameplay and totally tailored wii controls could make this a winner, but I won't put too many eggs in that basket.

I find it stupefying how people think the list of upcoming wii games is less than pretty damn spiffy, though.

@ brad:

It has its moments (the Wii release list), but I find it hard to get excited about a lot of what is on tap. And from what I've played of it, I'm even over Super Mario Galaxy (which I know I will buy on day one, but I can't get amped about it).

nintendo should do something like Kingdom hearts with all the characters they have. a good solid story, gameplay, fun and interactive would make that a winner.

I'm with Brad Drac on this one. This looks very interesting but I won't hold my breath about it just yet. It sounds like it may have some RPG elements which could be kind of cool. I'm always worried about fighting controls on the wii-mote though. While I think it's possible to do it well, I think its more likely it will be waggly. I'm looking forward to several of the Wii titles this year. First and foremost being BWii and Strikers. Also, that "Project Witch" looked interesting.

I hope this turns out better than Virtua Quest.

I actually have hope for this... assuming the control diagrams don't look like a highway interchange of course.

(come on 1 to 1 sword control)

Eh...I think in this case, it should guilty until proven innocent based on Death by Degrees, but I guess I'll continue with that default "cautious optimism."

yeah, this idea actually sounds like it could be pretty sweet if they do it right. There could be some wicked sweet moves and combos playing as different characters. Hopefully they do a better job with this than the shitty Mortal Kombat action game thing that i can't remember what the name was. definitely potential for this game to be fucking amazing if they do it right.

Anyone remember Death By Degrees? That was made by Namco too...beware of Namco in this new generation; just look at "Beautiful" Katamari. 'Nuff said.

Could be awesome, interested in how the control works.

To be honest Death by degree's was bad because of its insanely stupid control system. Considering thats not going to be an issue on the wii, I think we can look forward to this.

When are they going to release some games where you don't have to wave the remote around like a retard? Do they have something against releasing one that uses a real controller?
