I'll give Tara Strong a chance before I start crying over it but yeah... initial reaction is a little bit of disappointment.
"Seth Balmore in Lost Odyssey and Rachel in Ninja Gaiden: Sigma" are notable?

That IS disappointing. As much as Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill own their respective roles, Arleen totally owns hers.
To be fair a lot of people didn't recognise or like Arleen's job on Asylum. She's not been able to keep up Harley's original voice for a few years now. Simple problem of an actress getting older while a character is expected to sound the same forever.
Tara's decent enough, her range is good and she's had very few poor performances so far.

Bummer that it won't be the original Harley, but Tara Strong is a great voice actress. I'm okay with this.

I liked the old design for Harley too :/ Arkham Asylum Harley Quinn was awesome. It was a new style but still the same Quinn. Now it's just a new character filling in a slot that doesn't need to be replaced.

While I love Sorkin as Harley, it hit a wall with the designs Rocksteady had taken with this character. It's not her fault, more their fault. She doesn't fit the mold of the design and for that, we need a new actress. Unfortunately, this is coming one game too late.

Growing up nearly every cartoon featured Tara's voice in some form. She's a little too "prolific". I'd rather hear a voice that I Haven't heard before as a ten year old boy.

Bubbles from the PowerPuff Girls? Hmmm... I don't think I've heard her ever try to inject the "joy-zee" accent into a part before, but that's hardly a challenge. I have no doubt she'll rock it in her own way. I'm not attached to particular voice actors as "the character," with the one exception being Mark Hamill as Joker.
Am I a voice over savant or something? In that first Arkham City trailer where Harley spoke EVER so briefly...I immediately knew it wasn't Sorkin. Weird that it seems that very few people picked up on that until it was "announced".

BOO! HISS! Sorkin IS Harley! Paul Dini created the character for the 90's animated series with her as the inspiration.
I'd swear this was announced at least a couple months ago. I think people were just confused because the voice in the trailer (Tara Strongs it seems) sounded remarkably close to Sorkin's Harley.

Maybe she got tired of the same role after 16 years? I thought she just did soap acting otherwise, so isn't she realy hurting for work now that soaps are on their way out?

Hynden Walsh pulled it off when she voiced Harley in The Batman. Tara Strong is a professional. As long as she's directed well, I think she'll manage.

While it is sad that it isn't Sorkin, it isn't like Strong doesn't know what she is doing, I mean you can tell from the Arkham City trailer she is in, that Strong will do a fine job.

i actually don't like replacing VA of previous games. it just makes the character to different. though Tara Strong is a well known VA so no worries. still i prefer the original actors as much as possible. though they are games where the VA keeps changing and changing in each installment. Resident Evil particularly the RE1 cast, Chris, Jill and Wesker had all of their voices change. the RE1 Remake cast was actually awesome, though Patrica Ja Lee(RE5) still fits for Jill :P
I love Tara Strong and I believe her voice is great but Sorkin nails Harley like no one else can. And you're right Zimmerman, it's the exact same feeling.
