I'd be willing to bet that a decent percentage of the people who scoff at homebrew and emulation have probably dropped cash on PS1 titles.... tiles they probably already own....
And you'd think it could be as simple as transferring your PS1 data from your PS3 to your Vita, but it seems we may have to buy them again :(
Kinda dumb, but oh well. If they provide them, I'll be downloading Silent Hill, Crash Team Racing and most likely a Final Fantasy title.
Yeah, there are some things I'd like to say, but I'm not up to being "that guy" right now. ^_^;
Psone/ps2 games and cheaper memory cards Sony (or, *gasp*, some on-device memory!). That's all you have to do to sell me.
So long as I can play Suikoden, Breath of Fire IV, Vagrant Story and Um Jammer Lammy on my Vita I'm golden.
anyways, maybe they should have started "working hard" on this sort of thing prior to the release of the Vita.
Good thing i like Disgaea, otherwise my Vita would never get fondled.
I agree with this wholeheartedly.
So long as I can play Suikoden, Breath of Fire IV, Vagrant Story and Um Jammer Lammy on my Vita I'm golden.
Is it really that hard to emulate games from a 16 year old console on a MUCH more powerful portable?
I'm going to admit right now that I don't know much about how emulation works so I apologize if this ignorant, but this is unacceptable.
Sony should of had this ready at launch, but they're pulling the same shit Nintendo pulled when the abysmal internet browser and eShop weren't available at launch.
And Buzz Lightyear of Star Command? REALLY? That's the first game you decide to release on there! Why not Chrono Trigger (a SNES port I must remind you!) or at the very least one of the RE games.
I really, really hope the Vita picks up steam like the 3DS did. I love my 3DS and PSP to death and my wallet is craving I spend its money on some over priced tech once again.
Now some of them seem hopeful for the chance to just play a PSOne game.
Nothing against PSOne games, mind you. I just remember people telling me Vita was going to do everything better and not need to rely on older content to get by.
Also get Gitaroo Man Lives on PSN. I want to play that on my Vita too.
I don't suppose anyone actually has a copy of this game and can confirm that it works on PS3,PSP and PSV with just the one purchase?
I am sure that will be the case with already purchased PS1 games as well.
That show was my goddamn childhood. I wanted to be a Space Ranger more than anything else.
if the HD Collection can be run on Vita, there's no reason PS2 games won't be able to run on it.
That, and I just don't think that getting 15 year old games that are sold for $6-$10 a piece takes precedent over developing new AAA titles, creating software updates, and making new applications that will actually sell more Vitas.
The reason it wasn't available at launch is cause they remade the emulator from scratch so it'd be native to vita.
The reason why they ddnt use psps emulator is the same reason why many psp games aren't available for vita. The psp emulator isn't perfect
3ds launched missing tons of stuff vita launched with. Be patient
The best example to give to someone ignorant like you about emulation. Is to think of it like translating in real time and at a high speed to make it acceptable to the viewer (this is why early emulation has frame drops and other problems).
You're translating the language of the emulated system into something the current one can understand and at a high rate to make it acceptable.
Emulation is never perfect though, some things just don't work 100% for sure b/c of the way the system's resources were used and if you fix it for one game, it may break another part in a different game when you emulate that.
The difference here is, Sony has access to their system, so they should be able to create a new emulator in a fairly reasonable time. I think they are taking long b/c they don't want to use the same POPS system for whatever reason (probably related to piracy concerns).
