Although the quote is aimed at getting free publicity, I don't think many people could disagree that the Wii definitely "comes out" when people are over. I don't think that any piece of AV equipment is normally stored in the closet, but I am willing to bet that for Wiis hooked up to the household's main TV, it gets turned on quite frequently when friends are over.

Yes, Microsoft "owns the office", but that kind of ignores their gaming unit while pretending that their personal computer software unit is their only functioning unit. Both Sony's and Microsoft's entertainment units are not exactly profitable at the moment and rely on these other businesses in their parent corporations to survive.

Sony really needs to get in gear and start thinking about market share For The PS3(!) instead of the "Grab, Greed & Go" strategy.

Every Wii owner I've ever known, including myself, has let it simply collect dust with very occasional play, until finally just giving it to Gamestop for the credit. That said, I'm not sure what "the 360 owns the office" actually means, as I've only seen it in living rooms and bedrooms. It currently occupies the living room of my house next to the PS3, the latter of which is seeing a lot more play lately because the 360 is an unreliable piece of bullocks. But that's another story. Maybe Sony was misquoted and ACTUALLY said that the 360 was for the POST office, given how frequently some people have had to send it in.

Fortunately for me, my tv was made in the 21st century and has more than one video input, so my 360, PS3, and wii can all share the space under my tv and live harmoniously. 360 = game machine, PS3 = blu-ray player, wii = super smash bros.

@ChosTeaCup: Gotta agree with sexaulchocolate on this one, though. People on welfare shouldn't be spending what money they have on gaming consoles and instead should put that towards saving up for the education of their kids. Kind of like how I don't go out and buy an $80k Audi sedan just because I can afford the monthly fees. I'm going to put money away to things that matter, like fixing up my house, saving money for emergencies, and putting more money away to my 401k.

See I'm in the UK where we had a MASSIVE unemployment problem BEFORE the "Financial Crash" - people over here are not working because "I deserve to spend my days with my Kids" and because our welfare system actually makes it more profitable for them NOT TO WORK.

I know of at least 10 people who are better off not working than they would be if they got a job, and i pay so much fucking tax that i struggle to afford the extortionat fuel prices to get to work and back.

Meanwhile these people are the same people you see in the pub every weekend, and as i say, spending MY money on consoles for their kids. While I had to borrow money to buy my PS3. it's just not right.

I'm all about giving up a portion of my earnings to feed and clothe their kids but NOT for them to spend on ANYTHING considered a luxury.

They don't live a normal life, they don't deserve what the rest of us think of as normality.

These are the same kids they had specially to get a council flat or perhaps the 2nd and 3rd kids were so they would be given a bigger house.

it cuts me pretty fucking deep when i see my annual Tax paid, knowing that I've been to hospital once, i pay for my own dental care and I generally get NOTHING from that.

Oh and yes i do suck Sony cock - they fucking deserve it, they treat me fucking well. They sell me a top of the range peice of equipment at a loss, they secure all the BEST games and avoid putting shit money grabbing shovelware in front of me. My Blu-ray drive died last week, well out of warrantee, one quick call to Sony and they've fixed it FOR FREE.

I'm in the UK, too. And it's because of people borrowing money (if you couldn't afford to buy it with your own money, why did you choose the most expensive console??) like there was no tomorrwow that we are in the shit economically. I'm not classist, I actually hold strong communistic values - but it fucks me off to think that these people who essentially can't support themselves to the point where I have to go without to support them, think it's OK to fill our world with their badly brought up (generalisation) chilluns and think that spending the DONATIONS we give them to "get by" on luxury items.

i work every day and have a decent job, and i started at the bottom and worked my way to where i am. i could afford to buy a PS3 without credit (was only 4 month catalogue credit) if it wasn't for the fact that I pay so much tax - which rarely get's spent on anything I use. Hell i could buy one with 1 months income tax payment!

I chose the most expensive console because I didn't want to have to buy another one every year! x360 is a false economy. Plus i need WiFi, charging controllers and didn't want to have to pay for a service which should be a given on any modern console. you know getting a 360 to standard PS3 spec actually costs MOAR!? - Not to mention the 320gig HDD I got for £50, rather than a "special" 120gb Microsoft one for over £100. Fuck that.

That and the fact that I had the foresight to see that DVD is the past and Blu-ray is the future (i held out till the HD DVD battle was done). Had HD DVD won that one I would probably be in a different position right now.

I didn't get it because it was expensive. i got it because I see the value in it.

Sony have never done anything but good by me. The treat me like I'd like every company to treat it's consumers. A rare occurence in todays world. For that they get my gaming cash and they have me ranting in their favour on sites like this.

I have total sympathy for anyone who's not working because of the current economy, but those who CHOOSE not to work can go fuck themselves, in the ass, with a fucking razorblade laden cactus.

Also I think Mr Brown and Mr Bush have a lot more to answer for on the topic of borrowing than i do for borrowing a couple of hundred quid for a console.

Of course we believe it, because it's fucking obvious. PS3 has the best hardware, the best exclusives, and it doesn't fuck die once a year and have to get shipped back to the manufacturer for repairs.

And Nintendo still makes more money and still sells more systems than you, so you need to shut the fuck up, because in industry, that's what really matters. Who are you really trying to convince, yourselves?

Thats a good point. The Xbox 360 may have the largest library of games at the moment, including many good titles, but the hardware is an issue, as well as the subscription based online service (Nintendo WFC and PSN are free.)

I would have considered getting a PS3 for the good hardware and currently decent catalogue of games, but a ~£300 asking price is a bit much for me.

Still the Blu-ray take up is tiny compared to the sales DVD. And a lot of us are yet to feel the pinch. I didn't say Blu-ray *is* doomed, I said it was potentially doomed. Go to your local Video/music store - check out the size of the Blu-ray section. Tiny. Even the deathmetal section got more on offer. It's niche. Still.

Sony can say what ever they want but its not changing anything. Wii may be the closet, but it at least sells more consoles then the PS3. Which goes to show the closet is still the most wanted thing in a house :P. I like the PS3, but I don't like the way Sony's QQ over the other systems selling better. They can talk all they want to and say what ever they want about the other systems, but it won't matter at the end of the day if the other consoles are still outselling you. All you get out of it is "Sony is a bunch of whiners".

@ Otomiruninja: PS3 does get the best games, because the best games are third-party games. The exclusive titles can be good, but not much when stacked up against what is delivered by third-parties on both of the consoles.
