i actually wanted to download beacuse of their promotion and i cant pass up free stuff like the killzone 3 surple machine. lol the only way i get into home if they have more free stuff from playstion plus/rewards for home. I looked around and there is no chocobo for playstion home, what come on sony!!!!!
It's not as bad as it seems. You've got themed rooms for a lot of game franchises, and it's got some cool game previews in the theater.
Still, it's essentially a chat room. With all the usual chat room problems. Guys swarming girl avatars with messages, etc.

I went back there recently. Not much has changed since 2008: It still takes forever to load things, and I'm in worlds with ghost silhouettes before I see all the goofy models.
Oh well, at least the goofy suit I got at E3 2010 was kinda worth it...

Is that a RE5 Kijuju theme? That's pretty awesome... I haven't experienced home for myself but from what it looks like, it looks rather bland.
the loading is so much better then before so if you don't like it, the time spend will be less then before
I laughed at the idea of Home as soon as they first announced it. They didn't disappoint, it kept me laughing long after launch, and here I am getting another chuckle out of it.
the only way ppl would care if everything was free... maybe some game related outfits, but thats it, theres a few fun mini games, and the poker WAS good.... but that was about it.... theres just no way to make things like this for adults. you can have the social interaction without having to load this mess
i always thought home could have been cool for the FNF killzone2 clans. teams meet up in homes of your clan leaders. hang out and talk a bit, make plans etc. then jump into the game and play a few matches. come back to home and talk about them.

Home is shit. And 90% of Home users I encountered were either away, blaring rap music through a mic, or had the general intelligence of a five year old. It's an MMO without all the parts that make an MMO appealing. Not to mention it takes up 4-8 GB of HDD space which I don't have to spare. I'm still rocking a 40GB, Sony.

I tried it when it first came out, so let down.. It sucked a mouse turd.. It took hours just to get around, every door had a load screen...and a bunch of dudes dancing around.. I tried it again recently, just as crappy.. I hate it.. Dumb, boring, and why would I play that instead of Little big planet 2 or whatever on my ps3..
I woulda liked home a lot more if they let us use the sackboys or the things from mod nation racers as our avatars. It honestly just looks a ps3 version of second life which sucks.

Walking around to watch trailers and chat to people? EVERYONE I know who has a PS3 has a much better way to communicate. IM or txt or e-mail.
As for trailers, that's why I use YouTube. And unless I get super awesome exclusive demos or DLC or something from using Home, I doubt I'll ever use it.

If Sony wants us to take Home seriously they need to provide more freebies that can be used outside of Home, like avatars or trophies or in game bonuses. Right now it's like going to E3, getting tons of swag and then being told you can't take the swag out of the convention center and that you have to come back to the convention center just to look at or use your swag.

... I'm sure there's lots of shit there... tons more social spaces to get sexually harassed in and probably a load more minigames to wait in line for. They had a chance to make Home a useful function for gamers... but blew it on the whole social space thing. Even as a social space, it's near impossible to get together with a large group of friends and it's pretty much random encounters.

I first got my PS3 in May, and I had to wait almost a week before my first game arrived. So, of course I tried out Home. It was a relatively decent way to kill some time, but it wasn't anything fun. I have no interest in talking to the people on there, for the most part. Some of the mini-games they have spread out can be somewhat entertaining, but you have to sift through (and download) a lot of shit to find it.
The TL;DR here is that it was mildly entertaining... while I didn't have games. Now that I own games, there's no point to it for me.

My gripes were with the content and the implementation. If they haven't fixed the loading and communication issues, Home can continue to eat the peanuts from my shit.
No. Don't bother. What's the point? I play the PS3 to play games, not fuck around in some stupid virtual mall.
The most fun I had with it was trolling the easily-trolled player base with my father. Plug in a keyboard, spam dances, and get an entire room raging.

I don't use facebook because I see it as just another internet timewaster, and hell if I don't already have a bookmark folder full of those. There's not a chance that I'm giving up 5 gigabytes of space on my PS3 on a service that seems even less useful to me, especially considering my large-at-the-time 80gig machine is already completely full thanks to every major PS3 game nowadays needing an install...
PS Home needs a few major changes before it's going to catch on with the mainstream. They basically need to turn it into world of warcraft without the quests. It needs a general chat and a way to cue for online matches within home etc.

Home? ditch that waste of resources and use them into something more productive, like supporting PS2 backwards compatibility again.
It's pretty shit, but it's nice when they show Keynote speeches, or when they do the virtual E3 with all the trailers and stuff and collection shit and whatnot.
I use my PS3 for games and movies. When it's not playing either of those things, it's off. I'm not really interested in milling about with a bunch of people who think Home is fun times.

You know what they should do instead of work on Home? Work on some sort of party chat feature.
I tried playing UT3 with a buddy last weekend and not only could we NOT chat in the pre-game lobby, but we actually had to hold down a button to chat in game. WHAT. THE. FUCK.
Now, before you go blaiming Epic for making their game this way (which I agree is completely idiotic), know that I've NEVER had this problem with UT3 on the 360 (I own both). Why? Because I don't have to rely on the developer to make their game chat-friendly. Instead, I can just get into a party with the other players and talk to them in the menus, in the game, at the dashboard, YOU NAME IT!
Such a better experience.

I think I have spent maybe somewhere in the region of less than 1 full hour exploring Home, and that has been at various intervals. It ain't too bad, but it is dull and the concept is slow due to the constant downloading screens or updating if you haven't been to a certain area for some time. If it was fluid then it would be more interesting but as it is it does feel like a waste of time.
Microsoft had a good idea, and then killed it for social interaction. 1 vs 100 was something different to look forward to. Even though it was abused by the same people winning day after day, it had something.
