Sony unleashes survey for God of War III Collector's Edition photo

Sony is currently passing around an electronic survey asking God of War fans what they want from a possible God of War III Collector’s Edition. It would be foolish for Sony not to release an extravagantly priced version of the game -- c’mon, we’ll all buy it -- so we’ll take this as an interesting look at what Sony is considering tossing in the package.

Here are some of the key items that the surveyed can rate between one and ten. (One being the “least important.") You can view the rest of the items in the gallery below.

  • God of War and God of War II on Blu-ray disc
  • Art book
  • Access to exclusive downloadable content
  • Developer commentary
  • Kratos Statue/Figure/Bust

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m digging the prospects of getting all three GOW titles in one cute, limited edition package. Which of these are the most important to you? Is there anything in the survey that you definitely don’t want to see?

[Thanks Brian and Trevor!]

When I finished the survey, I was hoping "oh hey maybe we'll get to have a chance of winning it!". Of course that was so stupid of me! I mean a GoW wallpaper is a perfect substitute.

I hate the idea of exclusive DLC, so that's a no go. Regardless that I already have them though, the previous two games would be quite excellent to have on a single disc. I'd love to see that actually happen.

I really like statues in the likeness of video game characters, I curse everyday I live without that fucking Big Daddy statue. That being sad the God of War trilogy packing would be awesome.

Interesting. I'd definatly get the collectors edition if it had the previous 2 titles on the disc or a seperate one. The other choices seem like the regular run of the mill collectors edition stuff.

It would literally be one of the most epic things I have ever seen if all three were packaged together.

@discarded couch sandwhich

Thinking back on the old GoW's I'm sure the exclusive DLC would be something like costumes.

Ill definatly buy the LE version, Im looking forward to it actually. I think everything there is great except GOW 1 and 2 rereleased. I already have then, so I dont need them again. I would prefer art work and free DLC.

I had the first God of War, but I really couldn't get into it. However, if one of the biggest releases of this year ends up being the entire series in one package, then I'm all for it. That'd get me to give it a try again.

Damn, that is an awesome list.

If they have to cut something out, let it be the figure, I could care less about video game colletor's stuff. I just want the art book and GOW 1 AND 2 on a blu ray disc so I cam see them in FULL HD.

Oh, and of course GOW 3.

GOW & GOW II is the obvious choice. I'd also go for the Kratos figure and the DLC. If it's anything else then I just won't bother.

I barely even looked at the art work book that came in both Gears of War limited edition boxes.

I was hoping that GOW 3 would be like GOW 2, having the standard edition as the 2 disc special edition.

I'd prefer the figurine/bust since I have the original games. But if they added 5.1 sound and some 720p to the originals, I'd have a hard time saying no.

Also, can they just release the game already and make my life complete? Come on Sony, hurry the fuck up. I can't wait another year!

The ability to play all the God of War games on one disc sounds great. Whenever I feel the need to play through all three, I won't have to dig out the other two discs. Less work is good!

The Kratos figurine would be sweet for my office. He would stand guard on my bookshelf next to the Fallout 3 bobblehead.

I'm with Pedrovay2003; the first God of War wasn't my favorite game, but it would be very hard for me to pass up a new, influential action title when it's conveniently packaged with the entire series.

All three on one disc is a no brainer.

Not only will it appeal to people who loved the previous games in the series but it could encourage people who've never played the previous games (and don't want to be bothered to buy them and break out a PS2 if they don't have a BC compatible PS3) to buy the Limited Edition.

DO IT, SONY! WE WANT THE TRILOGY ON ONE DISC!!

Do you guys who are voting for the figurine/statue realize that there are already some pretty cool kratos figures out on store shelfs now, for 15 bucks? A bust would be cool, but the figure is a sweet enough likeness and is available now.

The first 2 games if they were upgraded slightly... hell, they don't even need that, would be AWESOME, and I still own the ps2 versions... as long as it wouldn't delay GOW3.

What would be the point of the first two games on bluray, when the majority of PS3s don't have BC? I own them both still, so I wouldn't have voted for that anyway.

This is the game that will make me finally cave and buy a PS3. For a CE, I'd love to see a Kratos figure and/or GoW & GoW II on a blu-ray disc. I think both would be pretty sweet.

So if they can even think of having God of War I and II on the same disk, this must mean PS2 emulation is going to happen for ALL PS3's?

As I'm one of the rare people who missed out on the PS2 - and is frustrated by Sony's decision to remove BC from PS3's - I would be thrilled if they included the first two God of War games along with III. There are so many games from the previous generations that I've missed out on that I want to play.

Art book and figure is a must-have as well.

PLEASE - god of war one and two on bluray. i want that now actually. i went way out of the way to get my hands on a backwards compatible ps3 only to find that the ps2 games play - but they look like complete crap on a nice HD set so what's the point.

you would think that they could make a fortune they sold god of war one and two together on bluray with a graphics upgrade similar to the treatment half life 2 and escape from butcher bay.

Okay, so... Am I missing something here?

Why are a few people here complaining about backwards compatibility? That's why they'd be on a BLU-RAY DISC. All PS3s can read Blu-rays, seeing as how, you know, they have Blu-ray drives. Why would backwards compatibility be an issue here?
bhive01's Avatar - Comment posted on 04/16/2009 15:34

Because, supposedly the reason BC isn't in the newer PS3s is because of the lack of the graphics engine from the PS2. Apparently it's rather difficult to emulate (doubtful). Putting it on a Bluray does not change the fact that it's coded for the GS.
