It seems that Sony isn't keen on letting Microsoft have all the fun in pretending that its new "me too" motion-sensing peripheral is a brand new platform. PS3 studio boss Michael Denny has joined in on the motion hype, claiming that Sony's new Wiimote is also like a fresh system.
"The motion control system we’re putting in place going forward is we’re treating as more of a platform," he says. "You’re right that here in Europe we have a lot of experience helping develop the peripherals for our social games but we see the motion control solution and experience as being broader than that. We do believe it can come into a core experience as well. The development of motion control software and games is a worldwide venture for us."
Denny also said that the PS3 lineup was "healthy again," rattling off a number of titles: "Yes, along with Heavy Rain and new SingStar and White Knight Chronicles. I think the line-up for PlayStation 3 is looking very healthy again. Exclusive titles like that do show off the platform to great effect. When people get their hands on these experiences, each of which are pushing things along, it does make the experience and what people hope to get from the PlayStation 3 really come to life."
This is such a slow news day ...

I hate slow news days.
also games made on ps3 to use motion control means people like the noby noby/katamary guy will be making some awesome games.
also ps3 being for the aged means cooler and not so childish shovel ware. granted there will still be some of that but it could still be awesome.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I was just pointing out that, honestly, there is probably going to be a lot of crap from the Wii moved on over.
I think it's actually pretty cool, though I'm honestly more excited for Natal, just to see if it actually works as advertised. But it still could be pretty cool to play PS3 games with the PS3mote, even if the Wii left motion control with a bad taste in my mouth.
I think the only reason people still call it a wiimote is because Sony hasn't released the official name for it.
I look forward to seeing Microshaft's "brand new, super innovative, not-just-a-controler-it's-a-new-PLATFORM" running "Natalpet."
I loves me some eyepet. i bet Microshaft have something similar sitting in the factory waiting to see how it does.
That's how MS works, copy something but keep telling people how new it is.
Microshaft invented the FPS don't you know.
i guess thats why they need the ps3 wand with the eyetoy. but i think it works out better that way.
think about it. something like a newer version of Police 911 would work far better on the PS3 than with natal. first you could actually make it so you control the cop. walk around the city, not just a rail shooter. i dont know how you would move with natal unless you feel like walking in place. which is dumb.
the one game i could see natal being really good for would be some sorta WW2 Nazi gGrmany rhythm game where you stand around as a random person in the crowd during a parade waiting for Hitler to drive by so you can salute him.
Then it switches POV to another person in the crowd, could be the guy next to you or 20 feet away, its totally random. and you might switch to someone short where you have to jump up and down so he see your hand. cause if Hitler doesnt see you salute in time they shoot you and its game over.
no, they call it the ps3 wiimote, because it looks exactly like the original wiimote.
it looks to me like sony wants to save their floundering console by getting in touch with the casual crowd. hmm, casual style games on a sony platform? can't wait to see how horrible the games will be. also, if natal is just an upgraded eye toy, it will fail in the first three months. cause we all know that the eye toy blows.
You think the PS3 is "floundering"? Don't be silly.
~Anyway... I hate this motion-sensing fad and can't wait for it to be over and done with. I was kind of pissed that Sony and Microsoft both jumped on the bandwagon, but I guess PS3 versions of the Wii's few decent third-party games might be okay. I won't be getting this thing, anyway.
PLAYSTATION 4 CONFIRMED FOR THE PLAYSTATION 3.
