Sony translator doesn't give a crap about Gran Turismo PSP photo

I thought Sony's showing at E3 was pretty strong this year. Their press conference was a delight for this gamer, as it featured new games and tech that I can look forward to in 2009 and on. There was one low point in their press conference, though.

As a racing game fan, I was excited to see Polyphony Digital's Kazunouri Yamauchi take the stage. It told me that a new Gran Turismo would be announced, and I was right.  Yamauchi seemed a bit nervous, but the problem wasn't with him. It was his translator. What a dick. Seriously. I get that not everyone is a Gran Turismo fan, but he could at least act like he was excited for the game while on stage.

Hit the jump to see the translator's dickery in video.

I had not seen a video of the translator's tomfoolery.

Now I have, I laughed my fucking head off. I mean, seriously, you should have been able to hear me down the street.

Oh and @CypherVR: Brilliant, I didn't actually have any of them, they're bloody hilarious too!

I'm sure it was intentional. A guy can't be that daft. I wonder what the story behind the scenes was. My guess is pay related.

I caught on to that while watching the press conference. I couldn't tell what the hell he was doing, writing? Reading off a script that Kazunouri prepared? I didn't realize it was Sudoku.

@CypherVR: HA! Those are funny.

I doubt it was Sudoku (added for dramatic effect?), but goodness, that's pretty terrible to do to someone. D:

i watched the presser and noticed how he used paper [which was fine because it was easier to translate huge sections of japanese at once. but i couldn't tell if he was unconcerned or if he was just working real hard to hear, write and repeat everything.

good news to see gran turismo coming out finally.

Guys don't be lame, my wife's a translator and this is how a rook does it. If you want to be angry at anything, let it be that Sony didn't hire someone with a lot more skill.

have no particular love for Sony, but I own all three consoles. It’s always good when everyone is competing hard. And the consoles are all up in years now so really good stuff ought to be in the works. Maybe we’ll see Trico.

There may be a hint of sensationalist link-baiting in VG247’s latest headline about Gran Turismo 5 – indeed, you can’t help but wonder why they didn’t mention these comments by SCEA Director of Hardware Marketing John Koller in their article last month source: Inchirieri masini. Regardless, his additional comments reinforce the important notion that the GT series is coming to platforms other than the PS3, source:Inchirieri masini
