Oh Sony and Microsoft, can't you just get along? Sony is claiming that the PlayStation 3's 2.5 firmware update will allow it to browse the Internet faster than Internet Explorer 7, along with some shiny Flash 9 support. Take that Microsoft, you jerks!
According to Sony Computer Entertainment, the browsing speed of the PS3 has been increased by 2.8. The company admits that this isn't fast enough to beat out Google Chrome, but is content to outrun MS' own Internet Explorer.
You all use your PS3s to browse the Internet, by the way. That is why this is important.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's better than Internet Explorer, But I'd say that saying your shit is better than someones else's shit, doesn't change the fact they are both shit.
I think they meant only Java-applications run faster on the PS3-Browser. But browsing the internet in general is faster with the IE7 in my opinion.

I suppose i could try that, but having to do it all the time to load a tab is pretty irratating. Yea Destructoid is a bit of a heavy page, probably not a good idea to have it as my homepage heh.
IE7 runs Pandora without crashing so IE wins.
Mind you, I don't use either but whatever.

As for the story, I never use the PS3 go get online, but I still say it's better than IE. Pretty much every other browser in existence is better than IE.
My cat can browse faster than IE.
That is all.
Also, they ignore the fact that Flash is up to 10 now. 9 is outdated.
Plus Firefox is faster as well, and Firefox w/ TraceMonkey is even faster than Google Chrome.
So, no the PS3 browser is not faster than IE7 if IE7 is run on a modern computer. And it's probably 5-10 times slower than Firefox w/ TraceMonkey.
Not that any of this matters anyway. The PS3 web browser's main problem is the screen size and lack of common plugins like quicktime.
