Sony: Sorcery shows why Move is better than Wii, Kinect photo

Arguing over which motion controller is better? What year are we in again? Sony has said that its upcoming magic 'em up Sorcery will prove that the PlayStation Move is superior to both the Wii and Kinect, claiming that it's more "hardcore" than other motion games.

"What we're trying to do with this ... it's more hardcore than most motion games are," said Sony's Brian Upton. "Most motion games are intended to be very, very casual. They have an almost Simon Says quality to them. We wanted something that would appeal to a more hardcore audience and would have depth and complexity.

"I think this title does an excellent job of showing what makes Move a better and different system than other motion controls that are out there. It's tighter, it's cleaner, it's more precise -- I don't think you could do a game like this on either Kinect or Wii. I don't think technically they'd be able to support this kind of gameplay."

Sorcery has looked promising ever since it was announced five billion years ago, but it really takes more than a single game to make a machine. When the Move is capable of so much, yet insists on games like Carnival Island, I don't think it matters if you're "better" than the competition's hardware. Software makes the system.

Admittedly, I don't use my Move as much as I'd like to. Mostly because my pal borrowed my sharpshooter and is yet to return it.

Thouroughly enjoyed the fight and Killzone 3 and MAG with the move though.

Damn it, I really want that Sharpshooter back.....

Wait, Zelda SS showed why the Wii Motion Plus is better than the Move.

Argument Invalid...

The Move is a bit intriguing, but the price point throws me off. I need the Move, the Eye, and the Navigation controller. And of course, there is no bundle with them all together. I could get a bundle with a crappy game for $100, and then spend another $20 for the Navigation controller... Sorry, but that's a little too steep for just an alternative controller that has minimal support.

Are Wii/Move/Kinect owners ready to go hardcore? I think they're happy with the softcore offerings.

Have to admit, I kind of regret getting the move.
Can't say I've really played anything that justifies the expense.

I haven't bought the move, Wii motion plus, nor Kinect yet and I have no plans to either.

They can all roast in a fire for all I care.

I do agree that it's more hardcore (whatever that means). It can be applied to many types of games, especially FPSs, and not just dancing and/or sports games.
Then again so can the Wiimote, but I feel that the Move is far more accurate due to the increased camera resolution.

Mighty strong words.

I really doubt Sorcery is worth shelling out all that extra money, when I can get IMO better games for cheaper on an iPhone, or a Wii for that matter. Unless Sorcery is more groundbreaking than say, Skyward Sword, I still ain't getting Move. But that's just me.

Why do think people can beat Nintendo by BEING Nintendo?

On a related note, what is with all the exaggerated announcement dates recently? It was the same for Icarus. Games take time to create. This was first announced like a year and a half ago. Is that really such a long time?

I hope this game is a success, and uses Move well. Other than that, I hope other games follow BioShock Infinite's lead and support Move for FPS titles. FPS games are why I bought Move in the first place.

Too bad motion controls don't magically make games better.... you really need to sculpt the game around motion controls to make them work. Sorta like shoehorning multilayer into games.... you do yourself no favors.

Translation: Until you have a library of compelling* motion control based games ..... no one cares.

Hmm you do have a good point, FPS are one place that motion control potentially fits quite well ^^

But your silly little game will not touch Skyward Sword; surely you realise this?

Also, don't know one person with a PS3 who owns a Move.

Masterballs: Skyward Sword may be the better game but Move is a better controller with more advanced tech to make it have almost real life accuracy

This game looks neat and all and my lady friend may play it but it doesn't really interest me that much.

My move is collecting dust, I really want to try a Cabella game...yeah I just typed that, lol.

What they neeed is a game like Skyward Sword. Gimme a massive RPG where I can swing my axe into someones face and I'll be happy. Right now I just use the Move for Shooters.

you mean that ultra generic Harry Potter wannabe? LMAO.
let's not even touch move controls in standard games cause those suck even more(MAG sucked, Socom 4 was unplayable, Resistance 3 was terrible and Killzone 3 while having ok controls at best was downgraded to shooting gallery with occasional on-foot section).

the fact that even ports from Wii have worse controls on ps3's Move than Wiiremote WITHOUT Motion Plus proved that Move is the worst motion controller. hell, launch line-up from Sony itself proved it long ago.

I'm not even a big fan of motion controls, but the fact that you have the option to play more "non" Party-Childrens games with full support for both Move or a DS3 Controller,(Killzone 3,Resistance 3,LBP,etc)does make it the better alternative than the competition for(I hate this term)Core gamers.

If you have Children, the Kinect or Wii are a much better choice though.

Sony has the "wand-in-a-game" patent for more than 8 years and it took them this long to have something of a game that uses it. Well, it did take Nintendo 5 years and additional hardware to make Skyward Sword.

I hate my Wii, and haven't touched Move for quite a while, but even I'm not stupid enough to believe that Wii has no hardcore motion games. The reason I keep that thing around is because of the Metroid Prime games, which work better than any Move game to date. If I could combine the pointer from Wii and the motion sensors from Move, it'd be ideal. Sadly, we have two different controllers, each excelling at the opposite's weakness.

my question is who has a Move and are they willing to buy it to play 1 game. While the Wii does not have what anyone would call a vast library it has a solid collection of games that make it worth having and the Kinect has a good number of dance and fitness games as well as additional functionality in using voice commands to control the Xbox. The Move has cheap wii sports imitations, failed attempts to use it in fps's and apparently one good game that hasn't come out yet.

The only advantage the Move has over the WiiMotion+ is the PS Eye.

Everything else is exactly the same.

Does anyone actually think the Wii is better at motion controls than the Move? I'd like to see a list of supporting arguments that don't include setup, but just in actually controlling games.

I own all three, but I got over the Wii and the Move in less than a month of purchase. I still use my Kinect. Personally, I think the Wii should die in a fire because I really hate trying to play Metroid with that controller. They could have at least provided us an option to use a 'cube controller so I could enjoy the game proper. I tried twice and it sucks the fun out of it for me....it's too forced.

The Move is probably the most accurate, but the setup is a bit annoying. I purchased KZ3 and the sharpshooter but haven't bothered to try it yet. At the end of the day....I'm playing with a controller on the 360 and mostly use the Kinect for voice commands and get-togethers.

The mechanics do look good, but it's annoying that they thought that Move support was so high-concept that they could make a game that's otherwise so generic. I mean, it has about the same level of creativity as a budget title.

Best buy has a deal with the sharpshooter bundle. It comes with Resistance 3, Killzone 3, Playstation move camera, wand, and navigation controller, and the sharpshooter attachment for
for $100. Might want to jump on that.

Move has always been better than Kinect, but they're too little, WAY too late. They said they'd support it, and they didn't. I already sold mine, and I'm not picking another one up, nor this game.

technically the move is better in accuracy than the wiimote this is due to the low framerate and res of the ir censor in the wiimote. I personally dont get why its so little used in 3th party games, they dont have to try to revolutionize everything they just need to allow for more accurate and faster controls in first and 3th person games. This doesn't have to mean they need to make 'Hardcore' games especially for the move. they just need to promote devs to include it as a method of control in for example every major first person shooter, if they do that they are golden.

I'm not a motion control fan, but I'll be very interested if people change their tune a bit when Bioshock Infinite comes out. I can't see Ken Levine just throwing it in as a crappy afterthought, and if there is anything at all that could convince me to get Move, it'd be a Bioshock game...

Is it worth getting the move if I already have the wii? Some of the games look good and I already have 2 games that support it. I also saw a nice bundle at best buy. So is it worth getting to play about half a dozen games?
