Sony is so pleased with the God of War franchise that they felt it necessary today to send word that they've already sold one million orders for God of War 2 ... a game that doesn't come out until March 13! Check out the pat on the back:
Just less than two weeks away from its PlayStation 2 release, God of War II has received top media review scores and fan anticipation, which has already spurred more than one million retail orders for the title, which launches March 13. Based on the original classic that garnered more than a dozen Game of the Year Awards after its release in March 2005, God of War II is delivering on the high quality gameplay that made the franchise a household name in the industry.

Because the sequel was in development for PS2 as soon as the first God of War was finished, and the PS3 was still far, far away. Plus, Sony's game plan is to keep their last gen systems alive well into the lifespan of their sucessor. PS2s are still selling great.
