Aside from the obvious reasons (nobody's illegally downloading or shoplifting products to get the codes), I never told people NOT to pirate. I just said own up to it.
If I had said piracy was unacceptable and anybody who does it is a scumbag, you'd have had 50% of a point.
But I did not. So you do not.
Still, I might as well use a couple more of these...
Lame excuse. If I posted a cblog with links to pirated game torrents, I'd get banned wouldn't I? Of course I would, because it's stealing and you guys NOT banning me could land you in hot water right along side me.
So why are you posting links instructing your readers how to commit theft? Double standard is double, Jimmy.
You're right. If we didn't ban you for posting torrents, we could be legally culpable.
So ... let's see how much legal trouble we get in for posting this, and then we can see if it's exactly the same kind of situation, as you think it is.
I'll consult my crack legal team just in case, because obviously this is like hacking five PS3s or something, dude!
and lets not even get into linux or the whole sue every hacker aspect of their policy.
so i say, "FUCK EM", they deserve to be fisted up the ass with no vaseline.
You should read more.

Start with that.
Not trying to be rude here just pointing out it's bad timing is all and I think you would've not posted it had it occurred to you before posting.
It's one thing to go ranting about terrible piracy is.
It's another thing to encourage the behavior you claim is so despicable.
This is the way this stuff always works. They don't really care. It's the same as all the Mass Effect 2 codes being the same. It's not worth the effort to create a unique code system. Most people won't find out the codes are non-unique and buy the products, anyway. This is pretty standard, really.
The KZ3 thing was just the pre-order bonus, anyway, which I already have. Time to pick up a new GT5 car, I guess.
Of course, some people are so desperate to prove a point about piracy that they're trying to connect the dots. It's cute, really, but it doesn't quite work.
Enjoy your free stuff, Americans. xD
It says "No Purchase Necessary" because the law says it has to. That's why you have to actually go buy a stamp and envelope and write in to them via snail mail to enter a contest without making a purchase. That's part of the so-called "lottery law" that only applies to broadcast media. I'm not sure if there are televised commercials about this promotion or not. If they aren't, then it doesn't apply.
However, it doesn't apply anyway, because there's no chance involved in the prize giveaway. Everyone gets one. Therefore, it doesn't fall under the "lottery law" and a purchase CAN be required. You can look all this up yourself if you're so inclined.
Point being, no. You're wrong. They absolutely can require you to make a purchase in this case. If you didn't make a purchase, and you got the reward, you stole from someone. That's cool, I'm not judging, but you stole from someone. Enjoy your sniper blast.
This is why most promotions are subpar because both sides have to be so careful so they don't get raped.
Japan based companies have given me years of enjoyment the least I could do is support them and the industry there.
I really can't support this and I hope that people reading this take the time to reflect on just how much the Japanese gaming industry has given to them over the years and pass on stealing from them in their time of need.
What you did was lead others towards sin, whether they choose to steal the content is up to the end user, but you are even more guilty, in the eyes of the Lord, for leading people towards sin. And thats real ish. Theres prolly blood running down your brow, but you could never tell.
1 Corinthians 10:32
Don't cause others to stumble, whether they are Jewish, Greek, or members of God's church
I'll take my free GT5 car and say good day to you.
...I'll take those KZ3 points and map pack too for when I get around to getting that game. :)
I don't think anyone cares what you feel bad about. Knock yourself out. You didn't claim moral high ground on a similar issue recently, as far as I know, so you're golden. Also, KZ3 is worth picking up if you get the chance. Enjoy the map pack.
Of course, I've only ever asked pirates to say that too, and to not dress themselves up like noble heroes, so I don't quite get what you're attempting to prove. If you're trying to dress this up as a double standard, you fail.
This. You had to generate unauthorized codes to get the MS Points on a third party site that wasn't approved by MS.
With this, you simply put in a code that already exists onto an official website that didn't think its promotion out well enough.
Look at some of the justifications people are coming up with for why this is ok. Like this sofik88 guy above me here. This doesn't at all remind you of the endless bullshit justifications you were complaining about regarding piracy?
Granted you didn't use any of those bullshit justifications yourself, and I respect that. But you did lead these deluded pricks to water, even if you didn't make them drink. Do you share no responsibility there?
What a sad world we live in where people can't even crap out 4 bucks for something they need, or god forbid just pay for the map pack and not be a jackass. This is why we can't have nice things.
Of all the shit happening in the world, to think people are putting more effort into scamming a free piece of shit DLC instead of paying attention to things that matter kind of makes you wonder where the future is headed.
thanks for the heads up jim, i'm going to grab one of each.
But in truth it doesn't matter to me. My Toronto Maple Leafs are going to make the playoffs (oh god! PLEASE!) and I'm gonna grow a kickass playoff beard so I won't need any shaving supplies.
