Sony's new philosophy is 'make.believe' photo

Sony has been going through a makeover ever since it announced the PS3 Slim. The PS3 logo has been redesigned, a new marketing campaign has been launched, and Sony itself has even given itself a snazzy new tag line. From now on, Sony's new corporate philosophy is "make.believe." That's some deep and meaningful sh*t right there.

"As we move to transform Sony and integrate the very best in electronics, entertainment and technology into the homes of our customers, the importance of an all-encompassing and unified brand image is more important than ever," says Sir Howard Stringer, Sony CEO. "In addition to reigniting the innovative spirit of our employees and our products, make.believe will differentiate us from countless competitors and inspire consumers around the world to embrace all that is Sony."

Of course, this is also a very fitting new tagline for Sony, since half of what's come out of the mouths of its executives over the past three years has, indeed, been "Make believe."

Yes, the only reason I decided to write about this was to make that OH-so clever little joke.

Make.Believe....more like we believe we can win secoond place. For competitive's sake, I hope the ps3 sells more. Then it'll drive Nintendo and Microsoft to step it up. Well, they already made Microsoft drop their price on the Elite. MS can't have a $400 Elite next to a $300 PS3. So their campaign is successful to far. In my eyes. Now Nintendo needs to drop the price of the Wii this Holiday. Probably not though.....

'Cuz, I mean, Sony is the ONLY multinational conglomerate that has a corny slogan. Thus they deserve mockery.

That's EXACTLY what I said, didn't I? That's pretty much what this article said, that Sony was the ONLY company to have a corny logo.

Please, try not to be so sensitive over a company that doesn't even know you exist.

To those defending this. Think about it. They made a funny slogan. No one's making fun of you or your gaming platform choices or anything. Just. The. Slogan. Is it so freaking hard to crack a smile? You don't have to take a joke about a stupid slogan as automatic Sony bias.

make.believe = the world which Sony steps in to feel better about themselves, away from reality where they are being beaten by a kid's toy and a console bearing "Microsoft" on it while dying for everyone.

Before flames, I have both the Wii and a 360. Looking forward to getting a PS3 at some point. But Sony as a company (in terms of video games) is sometimes down-right idiotic (and that doesn't mean the others are exempt from that), to be honest.

I do like the design work in that header, despite how typical and corny it is.

Speaking of design, I don't think that slogan really suits Sony very well. Adobe, maybe, but not Sony. I guess they can just make.believe everything they do makes sense.

...wow, I've only seen that joke for two minutes and I'm already sick of it. XD

Marketing in general has hit the shitter. This is so irrelevant. I don't claim to be an expert but I can't imagine this doing anything for Sony. It'll die in a year or so.

Hahaha... oddly enough... a lot of these comments are based in "Make Believe" land.

Seriously Sony... GET A NEW PR TEAM ALREADY.
If I wanted to play make-believe, I would go buy some paintball guns and run around in the bushes shooting my friends pretending I was in a war. Or... I would safety pin a towel around my neck and pretend I am a superhero.

My entertainment electronics are not supposed to leave me to make-believe, they are supposed to provide some ways for me to be immersed in shit that gets displayed on a screen.

@Steel Squirrel

ummmmmm all video games are make believe even if you are immersed, you are still making something believable to your sub conscious which is exactly what pretending does.

Are you actually holding a gun in COD hell no, are you actually killing real live people no way (only virtual people). Hence you are make believing.

I would say paintball is more real than video games as you actually hold a gun and shoot people with real ammunition........so please take a reality check on your self.

NO I'm not a Sony fanboy i actually have all consoles (i collect them) but please don't write stuff down and make yourself and the general gaming public look like pubescent fucks.
