I think Dale is reviewing that one, if I'm not mistaken. He's mentioned playing it a few times.
The question is...why a 360 fanboy? hmmm You would think Jim would want to do a Sonic one or something.
On Topic: Jimmyx you are 12
When Team Icos game hits it will be cleaned and booted up again but until then... sorry Sony. :(
It's either some rather insulting spin, or a window into Sony's priorities. I'm going to go ahead and assume option 1.
Read the source article. It doesn't really come off that way when you read the whole thing in context. At least I didn't read it that way. It was more like "we turned this shitty thing that happened into an opportunity to overhaul our services and we think it's better now and people seem to agree with us."
Download all your free crap then remove all my information and replace any required information with gibberish and made me lose what little faith I had left in PSN to begin with.
I've never been a huge supporter of digital distribution anyway, but now I have only one platform to bother paying attention to, my 360, as Microsoft is the only company who hasn't managed to make online shopping a complete pain in the ass.
Completely agree. He may have opened up with the quote Jim used, but he was literally only explaining how it's been improved, and how customers now have an easier way to get things they love on their PS3/Vita. I can't believe the amount of spin Jim used in this article to make Sony look bad. It's hilarious.
Yeah, I read it up. The bulk is harmless PR bullshit, but they are insinuating their "Welcome Back" package was a driving force in their new found boost in sales, and that this is a good thing. There should never have been a "Welcome Back" package to begin with, and wouldn't have been if they had had a sharper focus on security (they're also talking about the success of their music service, which had a huge security breach because of sad encryption, but that's a whole other story).
It's more than likely just a small lapse in PR judgement. Reminds me of the time a few years ago an earthquake ravaged some country, and the government released a statement like "on the plus side, all the repairs will stimulate the economy!". Not wrong, but just a tad on the tasteless side.
So intentional odd point scheme in combination to forcing you to pay for things through two seperate transactions isn't a pain in the ass? Oh wait, this is Sony. Yep, to you they fail anytime they do anything but cease existing. Personally, I like when an online store treats me like a fucking adult and I get to use big boy money. Just a personal preference.
Lock your windows because rocks can't smash them, lock the door because you can't force it open with an open hand push (I've done this). Safety blankets and a false sense of security that's all those things are.
I work at a bank and if someone wants your debit card information they are going to get it, unless you change your password every single day.
Now for the new
If someone wants to hack into "Company X" and steal data, it's going to happen. A company that stores mastercard (maybe Visa)credit card data (A Company that exists solely to protect data) was hacked and had like 15 millions card numbers stolen........
Rumors are that hackers in Indonesia have rooted the PS3 again!
While these rumors are as of yet unconfirmed, let's hope this doesn't culminate in another PSN identity theft debacle.
...although Sony does seem to enjoy them...
But on topic: Sony is more of a mass trolling collective than a lot of corporations in gaming industry out there today. I mean, they seriously have the gall to come out and essentially say, "Everything's all right, because WE didn't lose any money!"? What a bunch of bloody wankers.
It's kind of like that Family Guy skit with Julia Roberts... If you haven't seen it, look it up.
"As long as Sony keeps making money, I get more playstation's and more games. That's fine with me!"
you will live with your parents forever.
SayWord
"But the difference for me is that both sony and nintendo aren't scared to release only shooters. Ill continue to reward sony and nintendo for giving me such diverse line up of games."
sony shooters:
Resistance 1,2,3 plus the PSP ... thing
Uncharted 1,2,3 with announced vita game
killzone 1,2,3
MAG
Socom 4
battlefield 3 partnership to release its content first on ps3
what diversity!...in the titles. thats 14 games off the top of my head devoted entirely to gunplay and sponsored and heavily advertised by sony.
nintendo i'll give you that because they don't even focus on the same audience.
no doubt the press release by sony won't mention the new accounts created because users no longer felt confidence in keeping their old information with sony. not to mention the increased revenue from users rebuying content because their accounts were compromised and charged remotely by derivatives of the hacking.
but this is the kind of news fanboys want: that their beloved industry captains are doing well off while millions are without work. what a slap in the face to consumers; we're okay! we're making millions, thank you! here, pacify yourselves with videogames, that we shamelessly copy from the competition, to forget that your future is in shambles because of our greed!
Thanks you just proved my point, even in the shooter genre there is still so much diversity :p
Seriously, when did the consumer become so weak willed that they are so willing to eat up whatever a company says and does? Especially when we know companies do not give a damn about you besides what revenue you're sending to them? There should always be skepticism when it comes to corporate explanations nowadays, especially when they are speaking so proudly about sales while talking about such a huge security breach that could of been much worse than it was.
I'm sure this statement was done as a giant deterrent towards another attack that was done because, in a nutshell, Sony was being giant dicks.
If so, you're doing it wrong, Sony.
I don't expect a tiger to wake up and become an herbivore, and I don't expect a company to maintain an interest in the consumer beyond what nets that corporation an attractive bottom-line.
As a consumer, there are various avenues you can take to maintain your rights, but that is your own responsibility, as no company is going to champion you above their own interests.
Welcome to the real world. This is how corporations work. It's been this way since before you and I were born. Maybe you should be the one coming out from under your parents umbrella.
The network has improved,I lost nothing in the hack, but still gained 9 free games. I'm cool with that.
I said it when the packages -notably the free games- was announced. A good portion of the games people would even want on the list had sequels coming out soon, or at least within the year. What better way to get people excited to pay $60 for those then to give them a full-game-free-sample to get them caught up?
