its not the same nor is it really even a threat
The PS Vita is just one little waste of time.
But heres the problem with Sony and that comment, Sony's usual stance on these things seems to be to start something then just leave it. They bring it out, and then they don't really support it with content. Then when people don't naturally gravitate towards it, they totally abandon it (usually huffing and puffing that people don't get it). Its kinda the same thing that happened to Mini-disc and then UMD's, only now its the concept behind using a handheld system as a hybrid tablet-thing.
to be fair, I don't thing every wii u game is going to offer the option of letting you play the game on the pad. The more developers shoe horn in crap like "use the game pad as a sniper scope and aim it at the TV to shoot guns" the less likely that compatibility will happen.
This is, of course, provided they don't give up on the Vita in a few months and wait for a third party to save it like last time. Nintendo seems to have Monster Hunter on lockdown now and that was PSP's savior.
now that I'm getting ps+ on my psvita as well.. well shiz.. I'll be enjoying my system long into the PS Mortalis..
Shame on you all for having opinions in which you know nothing about..
I love my Vita, I really do. I want nothing but the best for the system. However, lets be honest here, there aren't many games on the system at the moment. My Vita is a very pretty PSP at the moment; well, that and it plays Gravity Rush.
I thought Sony would've learned with the Move that copying Nintendo for the purpose of adding a gimmick to their repertoire is stupid. smdh
For the record...I don't hate the Vita. I think it's an awesome piece of hardware. It's Sony's business practices that I don't like (confusing PS1 support, expensive memory cards, and the like). I also can't help but feel that any of the games that I would find worthwhile on the Vita I can also get on the PS3...probably because they ARE on the PS3. Guacamelee, Sound Shapes (iirc), soon to be Playstation All Stars... And if not a specific title shared between systems, then its some other game from the same franchise (such as in the case of LBP).
If it really is so easy to do, they'd do it. We know it requires more effort than they are willing to put in, and they rather put in more "stability" firmware updates.
All I have to look forward to towards the 3ds is paper mario. Love the switch in game droughts. :-D
"We tell our PlayStation fans all the time that what the Wii U is offering is something that Vita and PS3 can do quite easily," said the SCEA executive to Engadget. "It’s dependent on the content. So we need to make sure the content isn’t force fed."
"And, to us, making sure that the gamer receives the right type of experience is what’s most important. So we’re gonna pick our spots, but that technology does certainly exist here."
What is this man even saying? Can sometime translate this PR speech?
Im replaying my psp/ps1 games on my vita for the glorious screen and the fact I can remap the controls now so I dont have to hurt my hand with the claw on MH ever again.. and they are doing what the wii can do already.. umvc3, all the cross games like wipeout, pool, pinball, puddle, tons of games do cross play currently and many more are to come.
I'm not gonna deny there is a drought but then again the PSP had a drought and look how well it's doing now. I'll be happy with LBPvita for a looooonnnnngggg while and cross buy games? gotta love those too 8)
There is a difference between a drought and no games that interest you personally.
Exactly! You've just proved against mostly everyones logic in this thread and every other vita article.
I also forgot about Code of Princess (which I'm glad comes out before Dragon's Crown, as it will wipe its ass with COP) and Adventure Time!
I am thinking majority of 3ds and vita games will end up being multiplatform like Zero Escape. I hope that happens, playing 3rd party games on the superior handheld would be awesome.
Complete waste of an opportunity on Sony's part.
Also, the new PS3 hardware revision should bring back PS2 chips. Even in Japan, the PS2 is selling 1/13th the volume of PS3s... If they charged a $10 premium on the new, fully BC models, they'd be making more money than not doing it!
The level of disservice here is mind boggling.
I believe any one of us would be a better product director for Sony than whoever they have on deck, deciding what goes on the Vita and what kind of stuff they should be chasing.
Prove it.
Yeah there is quite a bit of games that interest me for the Vita, but none grab me enough to spend 250 plus memory card prices, for better or worse I need that "killer app" to fully commit to a device. I might jump on the asscreed bundle though.
As for the price difference, I can't take my WiiU gamepad on a road trip or vacation.
Um, Sony, there's a difference between doing something and doing something well, and a difference between saying it could do it and then supporting it.
As for the Vita Project Diva F, Gravity Rush, Persona 4, Soul Sacrifice and Tearaway have sold me on it. They just need to drop memory prices, and release it in a color I like.
MS well...ahh...yeah :P
Throw in a copy of PS:AllStars and youve got yourself a holiday bundle.
