I think Sony is forgetting you need TWO devices to do the same thing that Nintendo's ONE device does. It'll cost about $500 minimum to have that functionality with PlayStation versus $300 for the Wii U.
There aren't enough PS Vita owners to warrant developing anything that could use this.

to be fair, I don't thing every wii u game is going to offer the option of letting you play the game on the pad. The more developers shoe horn in crap like "use the game pad as a sniper scope and aim it at the TV to shoot guns" the less likely that compatibility will happen.

The whole PS3/Vita thing has a lot of obstacles in its way, plus Sony needs to fix a number of issues plaguing the Vita before they can hope to begin making this PS3/Vita experience comparable.
This is, of course, provided they don't give up on the Vita in a few months and wait for a third party to save it like last time. Nintendo seems to have Monster Hunter on lockdown now and that was PSP's savior.

The Vita and PS3 were meant to work together from the beginning. I can happily play games on the go with it and I dont feel like it's been worthless at all, I own over 90 games and 10 apps on my vita. I did purchase a 32gb card and absolutely love the system.
now that I'm getting ps+ on my psvita as well.. well shiz.. I'll be enjoying my system long into the PS Mortalis..

I love my Vita, I really do. I want nothing but the best for the system. However, lets be honest here, there aren't many games on the system at the moment. My Vita is a very pretty PSP at the moment; well, that and it plays Gravity Rush.

I bought my Vita at launch, and I haven't even so much as attempted Remote Play. TBH, the closest I intend to come to it is when I get the Neocom app for Dust 514.

I don't think I can possibly justify a purchase of a Vita at this point. I'm a little worried about Sony, also. They need to drop the price of all of their hardware to move units, but they can't drop the price because they're currently bleeding money. It's a bit of a pickle they're in.
For the record...I don't hate the Vita. I think it's an awesome piece of hardware. It's Sony's business practices that I don't like (confusing PS1 support, expensive memory cards, and the like). I also can't help but feel that any of the games that I would find worthwhile on the Vita I can also get on the PS3...probably because they ARE on the PS3. Guacamelee, Sound Shapes (iirc), soon to be Playstation All Stars... And if not a specific title shared between systems, then its some other game from the same franchise (such as in the case of LBP).

Remote play is garbage. I tried it once with Vita and was appalled by the horrible frame rate and lag. It's pretty laughable they'd compare it to Wii U.
Sony always says they can do some feature, but they are awful at supporting it after launch if they ever get around to it.
If it really is so easy to do, they'd do it. We know it requires more effort than they are willing to put in, and they rather put in more "stability" firmware updates.

Next couple of months is going to be so amazing for the Vita! Finally seems like the games are picking up and should have some really great things by early next year.

Sure it could do the same thing as the Wii U does, only if Sony truly cared about doing it that correctly. In the end, it takes actual work, which is something Sony most of the time seems to hate doing. Besides it costs much more to get both consoles.

Im replaying my psp/ps1 games on my vita for the glorious screen and the fact I can remap the controls now so I dont have to hurt my hand with the claw on MH ever again.. and they are doing what the wii can do already.. umvc3, all the cross games like wipeout, pool, pinball, puddle, tons of games do cross play currently and many more are to come.
I'm not gonna deny there is a drought but then again the PSP had a drought and look how well it's doing now. I'll be happy with LBPvita for a looooonnnnngggg while and cross buy games? gotta love those too 8)

I've been saying this since the Vita commercial advertised the Remote Play connectivity. If there's some memory limitation on the PS3 that prevents silky smooth streaming, then the newest hardware revision was the prefect opportunity to address it. The Vita should be one-upping the tablet on the WiiU by letting every PS3 owner replace their TV with a wireless Vita connection, where it seems to not be guaranteed on Nintendo's tablet.

Pretty much everybody misses the point in these articles. We all know that the Vita is fantastic hardware that is criminally underutilized. The problem is that Sony KNOWS that the Vita and PS3 can make beautiful music together and refuses to capitalize on it. They miss opportunities by the day.
I believe any one of us would be a better product director for Sony than whoever they have on deck, deciding what goes on the Vita and what kind of stuff they should be chasing.

Yeah there is quite a bit of games that interest me for the Vita, but none grab me enough to spend 250 plus memory card prices, for better or worse I need that "killer app" to fully commit to a device. I might jump on the asscreed bundle though.

Honestly, I've yet to be impressed by the WiiU. It's essentially last gen tech posing as a next gen console. There's nothing next gen about it. Sony, meanwhile, has great tech in place but just needs third party devs to support it. Remote Play (in my experience) has been pretty good. Having SotC in the palm of my hands was pretty awesome. Sadly, only a handful of PS3 games support it. Sony either needs to convince devs to patch the feature in or make it mandatory.

It's possible, but it's not really practical. Likely difficult to develop for, and low audience to sell too means it probably won't be worth the extra effort. I think Cross-play is enough, dual screen games would be a bit complicated, and I don't think there's enough interest.
As for the Vita Project Diva F, Gravity Rush, Persona 4, Soul Sacrifice and Tearaway have sold me on it. They just need to drop memory prices, and release it in a color I like.

Basically, Sony is saying it's the fault of lazy developers that the PS3 version of Black-Ops II doesn't have the same features as the WiiU version. Real smooth, Sony. Real smooth.
Remember that "famous" Sony presentation they did years back? didn't they announce a PS3-PSP crossover then?
Microsoft and SmartGlass can do the same thing as the Wii U, too. It'll just cost you about 5 times as much.
If anything, if the tools are simple enough, we'll get plenty of Wii U ports for CrossPlay. It's more content. I'm not going to complain about that.

I think if they were serious about that they could/should have announced a $400 Vita/PS3slimJR bundle. Then add 1 or 3 months free PS+ so both systems have an instant game collection right out of the box.
Throw in a copy of PS:AllStars and youve got yourself a holiday bundle.
