While they got their act together after the first week, people who called NCSoft official customer service line the first few days of Aion's launch got a fax machine.
Amazing!
Very poor form.
What? This isn't Microsoft? Hmm...I guess fuck ups are universal after all.
@PappaDukes: I've been laughing at your avatar all day.
Nintendo has a similar problem earlier and is repairing the Wii's I think possibly probably not maybe perhaps or not so captain.
my Slim works fine. Hell my Phat worked fine with the 3.0 patch that supposedly broke disk drives.
what a joke!!!!!!!! so the ps3 as the ultimate ("stand alone blu-ray player"), with the feature to be updated from sony 1 or 2 twice a year was a lie)
and how come Uncharted 1 worked so well with FW3.00
if they make a new firmware to fix this issue then PLEASE! add an auto-eject feature just before installing ps3 firmware updates on the system (especially if there is a bios flash update for the blu-ray drive in the firmware) like in FW3.00/FW3.01 "uncharted would Froze/ not read disc (ring a bell??)" <-- if someone remember
this quote confirms my opinion i would say
"was on killzone 2 was going 2 play multi player on line when it said i needed 2 up date to firmware 3.00 downloaded and installed firmware when ps rebooted the blue ray drive had dissappeared o' the splash screen ps3 still boots but wont recognise any discs blue ray dvd or cd was working perfect before update 3.00 as i was playing killzone 2 since updated to 3.01 drive still missing can anyone help me many thanks in advance."
Also....YOU ARE BIAS MAN.
@ Judo Porkchop- What was the result? I want to pick up Uncharted and haven't updated my PS3 yet, and want to see whether there will be a problem or not.
but at least ms own up to their issues and fix them for free... christ ;p
never would have guessed that it was ms making broken console hardware, but sony making broke console software :P
Also, I was able to eject the disc and play a DVD (which, admittedly is not a Bluray).
That's my experience, anyway.

I wrote an article of a year ago about this...not like any cares.
Look at the problems OLED is having with "blue" life span. Same process to make laser diodes. This is why those people can still play regular DVD's and CD's. Because the Red and Infrared lasers are still in tact.
When I sent it in they told me it was blu-ray laser had burnt out, luckily it was under warranty. In turned out my initial assumption was wrong.
This is in fact an example of the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon. Its synchronicity of two or more events that are causally unrelated occurring together in a meaningful manner; firmware update & death of the blu-ray laser- that I equated to being interrelated, but in reality wasn't.
Industry dickey isn't as rare as we'd like.
