Sony promises video walkthrough of PlayStation Store next week, pics for today photo

As Dale pointed out the other day, the PlayStation Store is about to get a much-needed facelift in mid-April. Yesterday, Sony gave us a virtual courtesy call via the PlayStation Blog, as a gentle reminder that no new updates were slated for this week. The newer look seems cleaner, and might even be easier to navigate. So far, there only seems to be one thing missing: a search function. You will still be able to browse all the titles in alphabetical order, but we're still holding out hope that Sony includes something a bit quicker in a future update.

The good news is that they are still open and ready to take your money, and that Warhawk is still very much going for an attractive discounted rate of $29.99 (for those late to the party). Sony is promising a walkthrough video, so you can see the store in action, but you'll have to wait until next week. Since we can't deliver that to you just yet, you'll have to make do with a couple of screenshots instead. Looking good?

Looking nice indeed. But a video walkthrough? I'd rather have a video walkthrough of Home.

Video walkthroughs are awesome. That's a good idea... Although I doubt I would need to use them because most of this stuff is pretty self explanatory.

Looks really good! I seriously want a PS3 right now! I want to play R&CF:ToD, Uncharted, Resistance, and a bunch of the Playstation Network titles! Oh, and Rock Band (even though it's coming to the Wii, which I'm sure will be bad with no DLC and bad online play)!

@dawimp523

i got a PS3 about 5 or 6 months ago and seriously have had no regrets whatsoever. All the games you mentioned are a ton of fun, and we get a lot of other cool smaller stuff, such as Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga or whatnot (and i know they come out on other consoles too), but yeah, i would definitely recommend it. I guess if you're a hardcore gamer that does nothing but play games, you'd be better off with a PC or a 360, but i don't think that will be the case starting in a month or two (AKA after GTAIV, MGS4, and Haze come out), and especially will not be the case this fall.

That looks better than the one there is right now.
I just bought a BS3 and the store is a mess to navigate.
Still, walkthrought videos are plain boring.

Please, PLEASE use this update to fix the streaming .mp4 functionality that you broke with firmware update 2.20, Mr. Sony-san.

When i see this pics it makes me think about the 360's online setup. And i agree with Takeshi 100% want to see more of HOME

Even if Warhawk is cheaper now, I'd still rather buy the disc version when I buy a PS3.

@ Akiba, no one reads cblogs so crap just gets posted here ;) Anything off the PlayStation.blog is just a waste to send in as a tip anyway, since half the staff of Dtoid if not all reads it anyway.

It is definitely a nicer layout but I want it to be nice looking, easy to navigate AND FAST. Is there any word on whether or not it will be faster than the current store? That things chugs along so clunkily...

That looks a lot nicer and easier to navigate. Hopefully it doesn't end up slow and cumbersome.
