Sony not commenting on PS3 price drop rumors for next year photo

It all started when D+Pad brought us what was said to be leaked information from Sony's Annual Staff Briefing. Along with some details on upcoming games like Uncharted 2, SCEE President David Reeves supposedly took the stage and said that they would be more competitive in price from March 2009 onwards. D+Pad guesses at a March price drop, targeted to hit alongside Killzone 2.

On top of this, they say that Reeves mentioned upcoming "technical innovations" coming to both the PS3 and PSP, though no details were listed.

Sony has dismissed this report as as "rumour and speculation," says GamesIndustry

It still sounds like a solid rumor to us. I totally get waiting until after Christmas to drop the price, and working something to go alongside Killzone 2's release also makes a lot of sense.

I've wondered if they'd drop the price alongside KZ2. Seeing as they want to be profitable this year, seems they'd drop the price right at the beginning of a new year.

They will definitely wait until after the holiday rush and kids use up their gift cards before dropping the price. Xmas is the one time of year where price means less to customers.

All of a sudden, the PS3 doesn't seem so bad.

Hang on, they're dropping the price too?

does anyone notice the ps3 on the right is being held by 2 girls where the left one the girl is on using one hand? now the ps3 is pretty heavy. and would get tough to hold with one had for a long time. does this mean the other rumor is a slimmer lighter ps3 maybe? or is the pic unrelated.

Great rumor!

Just the kind of news I need to strengthen my slightly wavering resolve to not buy a PS3 until the price drops below 300 euro.

It's not like I don't have an obscene amount of unplayed or unfinished games lying around anwyay.

The girl on the far left looks confused, like she forgot what she's supposed to do. **pssst**...just hold the controller!

Wow, only one of those girls is even attractive....maybe living in East Asia for the past 3 years has raised my standards.

I'd welcome a price drop, they should have done it for the LittleBigPlanet release
