Wonder how the Sony Defense Force is gonna justify this one.
I skipped the PSP and there is just a whole lot of hidden gems in the library I could have used while vita games drop in price. But I guess Sony enjoys a future where all of your content lisences are stuck on one system and you are forced to rebuy them every generation (I'm looking at you, removal of PS3's backwards compatibility so that they could charge you a premium for ps2 games that cost 5 bucks at gamestop)
Pirate tiem.
It's like Sony didn't get the memo that told them to leave the safety on while the gun was in their pocket, facing their feet.
But seriously, it's funny when companies take actions like this that make the pirates look like the good guys.
They claimed they'd announce something "soon" back in November in regards to a target date, but I haven't seen anything indicating that they're even trying for the West. If they drop that too I'd be a pretty sad panda.
Every time I hear more news about this thing, I get less and less interested in buying one.
In other news, sweet mercy that thing from Neverending Story is so terrifyingly ugly.
Oh well.
Overall though when I consider that the transfer pricing wasn't all that attractive initially I'm not too upset over this and am still anxious to own a Vita 3-5 months after launch as I was before.
I do have a good stack of UMDs yet to play through (all well reviewed games to boot is why I find myself so often scratching my head when people say the PSP doesn't have any games) and will keep my PSP and continue to enjoy it for years now.
So long as the Vita has a growing list of good titles for me (which it does with Uncharted, LBP, Disgaea, etc) and I can apply future PSN purchases to it and enjoy PSOne classics and others on that nice screen I'll be happy - just not "quite" as happy as I would have been to have the xfer program, and still concenred with Sony's ongoing insistence of a two-step-forward one-step-back approach to announcements.
Why not get the wi-fi model then?
@llort To be fair, Odin Sphere was going for 20 and GrimGrimoire for 30 on amazon before they were put on psn. And games you buy on SEN aren't limited to one console. You could buy two Vitas and play the games you get from SEN* on either.
And this is really lame. I have over 30 umds so this hurts quite a bit. I mean it's a new console so it doesn't bother me that much but when japan gets the service it makes me a bit upset. I hope they provide an actual explanation for this. Wish I had bought them on PSN at the time but I like my packaging and sound tracks *sigh*
*it's very odd calling it SEN, it's like adjust to the new year when writing down dates.
why japan only???
at least put majority or if not all of the PSP titles on PSN(i refuse to call that SCEI) on sale.
Besides, who the hell is going to pay $7-13 for games they already have? If I were to guess, Sony killed off this "program" because it was a miserable failure in Japan.
Fucks sake Sony,what the hell...
Second, At least they let us know before the thing even came out. I seem to remember with the PSPgo they didn't come to the conclusion till well after it was released and people bought it with this hope and so many others before they dropped the whole thing like a rock.
Either way, I didn't get in on the PSP so I don't have any UMD's to speak of and will be getting Vita any way. Still doesn't mean I like the practice of screwing people out of their money any more then anyone else.
Sony at its finest people.
no. I like physical products, not shitty content licenses where companies can treat me like their bitch. And when they charge 20 dollars for a download of patapon, when the physical version can be bought for 5 dollars, that's a shittier deal than the Vita is turning out to be.
I've never seen a system that sounded so good at launch, so systematically reduced to an afterthought by the company producing it.
Way to go Sony!
I didn't plan on playing PSP games on my Vita anyway. Nor would I pay money to redownload games I already own anyway. Unless it was a super cheap price like $5.
I love the idea of buying my Vita games through digital distribution. I already only buy games via Steam for PC and will probably skip the next gen of consoles unless games can be had via digital distribution. I just hate having hundreds of game cases to figure out a good looking way to store. Also, its petty, but I like not having to switch disks. Something about that is very appealing to me.
