Sony launches Sodium, an MMO space in Home photo

Sony has announced that it's launching an MMO inside Home today called Sodium One.

Players can enter in to the Sodium "Teleporter" found in Home's Central Plaza to play along with the kind-of-but-not-really free-to-play title. Called a "social gaming environment," you'll be able to battle against other players in objective-based mini-games, as well as larger arcade-style games and other community events.

So like I said, it's free to play until you have to pay. You can hop right in and play a game called "Salt Shooter" where you'll use a tank to hunt robots. But if you want more, you can pay to unlock levels and "experiences" by buying virtual items, which Sony says will range from $0.99 to $4.99.

Curious little idea Sodium is. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Alright, THIS is the type of thing I was expecting from home to begin with: Big games with Home as the central hub.

Pepper me skeptical, though.

Hang on, Home is heading in a fun/useful direction? No fucking way.

Just need to add those TV's Sony, those will turn Home from a time waste, to somewhere to watch TV with my friends virtually.

I mean come on. Surely I can watch the videos on my PS3 in my HOME space, with my buddies? Right? Performing rights issues? fuck them, sort that shit out Sony!

LoL I loved taking PS calls at SOE....one of the players made my trainees cry. It was a wonderful day.

@Ganjookie

lol I actually liked Planetside, for a "MMO" it did something different and I honestly think it could work on a console.

So, do you have to stand in a virtual line and wait your turn to play like all the other Home games?

So surprisingly enough, the tank game seems rather fun, pretty worth the $5.00 entry point. Controls are pretty slick, and it's got a nice arcade feel to it, with potential for upgrades and customization. Never thought that I'd see the day where I bought a game from Home.

The tank game is free... I've just played until level 5 and had a blast :-) (Then I died sadly enough ) sure hope there's more coming...

the rest of it is pretty boring :p just home with a new skin that was influenced heavily by the "Burning Man" festival, they even have one of those huge guys that usually get burned at "Burning Man" :p
