It seems like every other week there is a new rumor about an upcoming Sony portable. The PSP2? Who knows. It seems like they are always killed by a lack of hard evidence and usually a stupid-looking concept header image (like the one above).
This time around, though, speculation is supported by a new help wanted at over at Sony Japan. According to Gamespot, they're looking for someone to evaulate a "new game machine" that is "part of the PlayStation or PSP series and their peripherals."
And there's more:
The job listing goes on to state that, if accepted, evaluator/assessor applicants will "will be part of an advisory staff which will play PlayStation series software on this new machine and check its functionality. They will also be able to "test game machines not yet released or new functionality of PS3 peripherals before they are released."
It's been too long of a day for me to be creative and speculate on what this could be. I'm just hoping its a real PSP2 and not another PSP rehash.
What do you hope this will be? Two analog sticks? Please!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I hope this new machine is the PSP 4000, hopefully with a new "flip-over" design similar to the DS and GBA SP. I'd also like it cheaper, with a better screen, longer battery life, and shorter loading times. If they can do that, then I'll buy a PSP.
I mean look at PSP games like Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep or Resistance: Retribution. Those look better than most Wii or PS2 games.
Basically, a new PSP would be really amazing even if you're just thinking of technical capabilities. Although I don't think there's stuff they can still do with the original.
Also, I want to see a brand new DS blow me away before a new PSP does.
I agree, the DS lite is a bitch for hand cramps. Which is why I only use it for ds games, I like my gba micro which I play more than my ds. My psp on the other hand I had to get one of those handle attachments which makes it feel like your holding a ps2 controller, plus it adds 10 hours of battery life to your psp. Sure its bulky as hell now but its not like the psp ever fit in your pocket to begin with.
That's because the DS makes up for not having an analog stick by having a touch screen.
Whoever designed that wins.
"All I have to say is that concept art would be a pain to use in reality with those analog sticks where they are, I can feel the hand cramps already."
Not to mention that extruded lip on the bottom cutting into your hands.
