Woooo! I thought by this weekend all the iPad stories would have shriveled up and died in a pile of exhausted Apple fanboyism and Apple hatred. Leave it to Sony to make a lowly weekend editors dreams come true. The company has commented on the iPad's gaming ability and what it means for Sony.
"Apple's entrance into the portable gaming space has been a net positive for Sony," Sony's John Koller, Director Hardware Marketing, told the Wall Street Journal. "When people want a deeper, richer console, they start playing on a PSP."
This is like the Wii argument they've been putting up for years. When people get bored of the Wii they'll come to the PS3. Who knows if that is actually true at all, but you've gotta give it to Sony for putting a positive spin on almost anything. Not like those Nintendo jerks who have to rain on everyone's parade.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Worked for me, got Wii, within days I was bored and ordered a PS3 as soon as I could.
Actually tried going back to the Wii recently, just for shits and giggles, and it was a bit of a non-starter.
MAG may have helped in my lack of caring for the Wii recently though.
Meh, or they could get a DS.
That's it! They finally made a less gaming related handheld than the PSP! AND a dumber idea than the PSP GO. It's not about who can beat the DS anymore it's about being the lesser of two evils.
It's the iPad, with cheese.
I severely doubt the iPad will be that good for gaming, just get a Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo console, even if it's a handheld, and laugh at the face of the iPad's feeble attempts of being a cosmetic item!
@brainderailment
He must come from a distant past when the PS3 was more expensive then the 360.
Also, I don't understand the appeal of the iPad at all. Why would anyone want to carry around something that big, when you can just use an iPhone or iPod Touch that does basically the same things and fits conveniently in your pocket?
If the iPad ends up being successful, it just further proves my theory that people will buy into anything that has a stupid name: iPad, Wii, Yahweh, Barack Obama, Larry The Cableguy...
Think of it this way, video game PR people are like those douche bags at bars who think they are gods gift to women. They think if they spout enough bullshit, they will be able to pick them up.
PR people are paid to spout bullshit to the public, if they appear confident in what they say, a lot of people buy into it and think it as "truth".
Take what they say with a grain of salt.
PS3 is still more expensive than 360. I can pick up a new 360 for £100.
It's true for me too. Played the Wii until 2008, got bored with it, got a PS3.
In the US the ps3 and 360 can both be bought at the same price.
What Assassin911 said. They are the same price in North America.
I'm curious, what is the price difference in the two where you are?
Just throwing that out there.
As for my opinion on the iPad... completely redundant, overpriced crap. It's just a high-priced UMPC that lacks much of the functionality. My opinion on the PSPGo... it's biggest competition is the PSP-3000. Aside from form-factor, everything you can do on the PSPGo can also be done of the PSP-3000, and for a lot less.
I know of one gaming platform that can sell me a new unit that will play Lumines on it. hint: ITS NOT THE PSP GO!
Actually, this pretty much explains why I got a PS3. I was bored of the Wii, and wanted something new.
Also Final Fantasy XIII was on the horizon.
