Thank... you? I think I'm done with them for a while.

God help me but I might be going out and purchasing a Nintendo system now. Maybe a 3ds or wait for the wii-u... I think I'm going to be sick...
Thus, the only reason to buy upscaled last-gen ports is if you don't already own them. Game, set, match.
In theory, yes you can do that. for best result you will need your PS3 to be connected to the network with Ethernet to minimize the lag.
However, games that support remote play is in very limited number now. Your PS3 will need a software update to enable more games to support this functionality.
Till now we don't know when Sony is going to release that software update.
So, my advice is to wait till we hear about that PS3 update then buy a Vita.
So would that be worth it...would it be a feature to have if it will cause more bad PR then good?
Well, fuck off then.
The fact this came up implies it WAS asked for.
Sony did not randomly announce it as you've portrayed it as doing. It wouldn't have said anything if the question wasn't out there.
Ahem: Soni y u no Scott Pilgrims?
What was that showcasing if not the PS3 to Vita game functionality? It's true I could have misinterpreted that Sony ad as well, but who knows.
Is Sony allergic to money or something?
Step 2. Wait for the Jailbreak.
Step 3. Wait for the Emulators.
Step 4. Play any goddamn game you want.
So dumb.
Considering I still have a good amount of my ps2 games. Playing them on the go would have been the incentive to repurchase them.
This needs to be directly address and stickied to the front page, because like therealdan, I'm confused.
Unfortunately, I don't see them really capitalizing on it's potential.
I hope I'm wrong. Maybe they will kick I to gear after a few months or something, it's too early to say.
Either way, no device is anywhere near perfect. Most technology has horrendous missteps and shortcomings.
Technically, you don't need to have hacked version of both, only a hacked PS3.
Because the permission on what game to allow remoteplay is done in the PS3 not Vita. hacked PS3 can change this permission.
Right now only games that support remoteplay for PSP, can be run in Vita.
So, if you have a psp you can test which games can run now on unhacked PS3.
According to this rumor from eurogamer
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-11-24-ps3-firmware-to-enable-vita-remote-play-for-all-games
A future PlayStation 3 firmware update will enable Vita Remote Play on all games.
I'm not asking for the Vita to play PS2 disks. I'm just saying that it would be sleazy of sony to make a line of ps2 game ports when people already own upwards of 3 copies of those games and they refuse to allow people to play ps2 digital games run on the Vita. Sony is actively working to eliminate backwards compatibility, even when it makes little to no sense making it so people can't take their physical games to the next console, and they're also pushing towards people having to buy their games digitally so that they are stuck with a bunch of content licenses only to find out that Sony's NEXT system isn't compatible with them for no reason at all. Sony is content with selling people their own games over and over again every single gen which is like I said, sleazy.
No reason to remove PS3's backwards compatiblity, they could get PS2 games on the Vita, they only did the PSP transfer program in Japan, the Experia play couldn't access your preexisting PSN library, etc. I can't be the only one who sees this?
Man. Say what you will about Microsoft and Nintendo, but at least they consistently act like they want you to buy their products. Sony is the salesman as sulky teenager: "Here's the new game, um, thing we, like, made or something, so, um, buy it, I guess? What? PS2 games? I dunno. God, whatever! Leave me alone! You're so pushy! I'm gonna go, like, take a nap or some shit. Laters."
Still sucks though. I could go with a little Skyrim in my pocket, that's for sure, and it sucks that they just squashed that completely.
Well, here's hoping for a portable Portal of some sort in the future.
