Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

For the past two days, I have been stationed in San Diego for Sony's Gamers Day 2007 -- a major Sony event showcasing what the company has in store for all of us this year. And believe me, with the amount of new announcements, footage, and impressions that will be unleashed throughout tonight, you'll understand why it took two days to do.

I will be breaking down my impressions of each major title I played (some of which you have never heard of) and do a wrap-up of the event as a whole, but before I do, I wanted to share some major announcements to come out of the Sony camp that you should be well aware of. Here are a few and I'll have more after the jump:

• Sony will release SOCOM Confrontation as a multiplayer-only title for the PlayStation 3. It will support up to 32 players online with full clan support, etc.

• Sony is developing a bowling title that uses the SIXAXIS -- much like Wii bowling.

• Nearly all major first-party titles will be coming out in the fall.

• A Warhawk public beta will begin on May 25 with sign-ups available now.

More news after the jump.

Other important announcements:

Warhawk will be available to download over the PlayStation Network but will also be available at retail on Blu-ray. The retail package of Warhawk will include the game with extras such as developer interviews and demos. The pack will also include a Bluetooth headset for the PS3.

• The PS3 version of Stranglehold will include the original movie, Hard Boiled.

• A Resistance: Fall of Man add-on pack with two maps will come this fall; More MotorStorm content will also be on the way.

LittleBigPlanet will have a demo released this fall with a planned final release for just after Christmas.

• There are more than 90 titles coming to the PS3 from 3rd-party developers this year, with half being for the PlayStation Network.

• Peter Dille, Senior VP Marketing for Sony, said that Devil May Cry 4 was developed for the PlayStation 3 and is being ported down to other formats.

• PSP hardware sales are up 40%, with software sales up 150%. There will be 140 PSP games coming out this year with nine being 1st-party exclusives.

:D sounds good!! can you play Ratchet and Clank Futures and tell us your impressions? that's the game i probably care about the most for the PS3... unless they have FFXIII, FFversusXIII, or Kingdom Hearts III on display there.

So the Walmart clearances on PSP games did boost the software sales. So instead of 2 games a week they sell 5?

Looks like some good stuff coming to the PS3.

Bowling with a SIXAXIS? No, I'll stick with my wiimote, thank you very much.

Let's make some guesses on how many people will prefer to own a hard copy of Warhawk as opposed to the digital version, especially when the retail version has bonus content.

@ thisissami: There is currently no Kingdom Hearts III. Reports point to the next Kingdom Hearts game being for an unnamed portable system and to be more of an interquel or, if you hate using words like that, a side-story. (My guess is a DS game, based on the GBA's "KH1.5" a few years ago.)

"Sony is developing a bowling title that uses the SIXAXIS -- much like Wii bowling."

Oh man, why bother? They think that's gonna be a selling point or something? Yeah, play virtual bowling with a controller that feels awkward one-handed on a $600 console, or play bowling, tennis, and golf with a controller that feel great one-handed on a $250 console.

Seriously. HA!

Wow, Sixaxis bowling. Sony are shameless, really.

And am I the only one who really isn't interested in LittleBigPlanet? I saw the demo, it looked boring as hell.

I gotta say...this is the first time I feel 100% certain that AT SOME POINT I will have to purchase a PS3 and play all these games. The problem is I hope it's not all wasted for Sony...despite all these good games, it's still a very small number of people who are going to pay $600 for a PS3 and then $60 for all these games.

Now...if we get a *significant* price drop...we'll see what happens.

-> WTF sterling: Kind of, yeah. I don't really think LBP would have much long term appeal to me personally, in the same way that management games don't, but I'm very interested in it as a concept.

Releasing all their first party titles in the same quarter sounds a bit odd though. Won't they cannibalise their own sales?

Wow, all the hate before even reading the articles. That tells you how much these^ assholes know.

I doesn't matter how good or how many games are coming out, the PS3 is gonna recieve hate from the M$ fanboys.

Guess what, it doesn't matter if the bowling thing is a me too, it shows that you can have good graphics while having the same amount of fun as the wii. And no, you dont hold it like the wiimote, you hold it like !*gasp*! A BOWLING BALL! Blasphemy, you are supposed to bowl with a stick in your hand. Your not supposed to use your thumb, middle, and ring fingers to bowl!

@ ZServ

How much do you suppose a game with dev interviews, demos, and a bluetooth headset is going to cost? My guess would be in the $75 dollar range at least..

PSN game on the other hand may cost in the neighborhood of $40-50. These are just my guesses.
