Military you ask? They can get their someone to do it for them I'm sure.
It should be under a menu option on the left called "Welcome Back" also, the images should cycle to a "Welcome Back" image as well, click either of those and it should get you there.
I come back from vacation tomorrow. Fuck off Sorny.
This is their apology for sucking ass and storing people's personal info in unencrypted text files and it has an EXPIRATION DATE?
ur doin' it rong, Sony.
"herp derp y didn't u get it sooner"
Well, mouthbreather, their 'apology selection' was shitty. Even Sony Loyalists agree on this. Why should people be punished for taking their time to think about what they want? Not everyone is a 12 year old impulsive kid.
Fact is, 30 days is really short. It's not like these digital copies of games were sitting around taking up expensive warehouse space. And it wasn't well publicized either - you had to dig in to the offer details to see it. And Sony's response was the perfect representation of their corporate attitude to their customers: "here it is and fuck you if you have any problems". Heck, even the title of this program implied the problem was our fault. "Welcome Back", as if we were gone of our own accord.
Too good, indeed.
Man, the Sony Defense Ladies are up early today! :]
Sony didn't compromise peoples data they got hacked, and sure security can always be better but this not something that was there fault. Nothing is "unhackable" in this day and age, whether security for a only service or a government database. Someone can get in if they want to.
Point being, shut the fuck up Rammstein. U trollin'
Ahh fuck off with the security bullshit. They didn't just leave the door open. Sony's security was found suitable and up to date ages ago. And anyone with half a brain knows there are risks with any online market, and protects themselves accordingly. You never rely on someone elses protection.
Again you had 30 fuckin days. 30 days to pick just a few games from a very, very, very, limited selection. How much fuckin time do you need?? You're not picking a career. You're picking video games.
30 days to get your choice of 5 great games..Fuck You Sony!!!
Damn you for being compromised by hackers!!!
preach it brotha
i tried to download the last few things last night but the welcome back section had disappeared... i hope it'll be back today as i would like to check out PS+ for one free month (no way i'd ever pay for that crap)
also, to all the people saying that 30 days is plenty of time and to the one pre-teen who said he could talk his dog thought it - some of us go on the road from time to time for work, some of us also are able to afford our own apartments and dont have to live with out parents, therefore when we are out of town working for a month, there is nobody in our home to "talk through it". i guess i could call my mom to break into my home so she can download some free games because i only have one month... that makes sense
Christ people are stupid.
First time a victim, second time a volunteer.
I salute you general-izer en masse.
Also, who the hell would leave their (same sex/opposite sex) dentist if they did that? I need to start looking.
"I have a job, and an apartment." Well I suppose that'd win you a prize in a 1up contest in Greece.
No friends though? No one with a spare key who could help you out?
Ah well. If you were working 30 days what are you crying about? Even on a paperboy's salary you should be able to afford all of the available titles by now.
If you go on a trip, and then return home, it would be strange if your housemate waited several months to say "oh hey, welcome back!" Likewise, if you wait half a year before taking Sony's free games offer, how would it still be relevant? Welcome back? To what? You've been back a while. That was a long time ago. That's why there's a time limit on it.
30 days is far more than enough time for 99% of people to take advantage of the offer. If you are one of the few people who conveniently haven't been next to a PS3 with Internet access for 30+ days, then oh well. Get over it and stop demanding that everybody caters explicitly to you.
Yes, I'm sure that there are people that would have jumped on things sooner but just didn't. And yes, I know my beef with viewing them as idiots is mostly toward the month of Plus, but I also blame the setup a bit: You can indefinitely choose your free games, but you have to "buy" the free game offers, which then disappear from the Store. It's somewhat confusing for someone, especially if they don't check the PlayStation.Blog to see where they can continue choosing their games (under a few submenues of Account Management), so they may have felt pressured to choose on-the-spot. But, yeah, a month t choose which games ya want is prolly enough time, even if you're busy (unless you've been out of the loop).
However, my thing is with the month of PlayStation Plus. 30 days from the day of (not "the day before", or "as the turning of to") July 3rd is August 2nd, a Tuesday, which is Sony's Update Day for the PS Store. So, I had been holding out on activating my family's PS+ subscriptions until then, so they could maximize their potential gains outside of the free games (which they'll be able to play anyway, thanks to my subscription). However, Sony likes to put the updates up late at night here (Central Standard/Daylight), so I wanted to wait until late last night to kick it in, so they could take any last-minute discounts, DLC, avatars, or themes they'd want, things they'd still have access to once the subscription fell out.
So, yes, I had a reason to trust the "through" in the Welcome Back FAQ, and I had a reason for holding out as long as I did, not for myself, but for my relatives. Their subscriptions may have been activated sooner, if there was anything besides the "free games" that interested them. But there wasn't, so we didn't, and I just wanted to maximize the potential for PlayStation Plus to please.
Might kick myself a little for not realizing it's tomorrow morning that's the new deadline; would've waiting until 'round now, so they'd have that much longer to take advantage, if I was sleeping or gone that night (I work night shifts; everyone else is a day worker). But, eh, if something tacked on mid-week for PS+, it's usually by Thursday or later, so they'd prolly miss out, anyway.
Sony is being generous here though, they didn't have to extend the date you know. You had 30 days. If you haven't downloaded your games by now then you obviously don't care enough about those games to begin with.
And people still find something to bitch about.
I agree with you, Sony did the right thing here, though most of the people complaining are the same people that bash anything to do with Sony in every thread. I'm expecting RedOne, KwikPwn, and sofik88 at any moment.
The reason this is the right thing is because someone on the promotions team made a mistake with the original "through July 3rd" statement. Possibly a clerical or mental error, but someone should have caught it. The fact that the second notification reads that the offer will end "on July 3rd" tells me they were unaware of the ambiguity of that first message. If both messages had read "on July 3rd" then anyone complaining that they missed the window would have just looked silly.
Sony did the correct thing, considering the confusion created by the first message. That being said, I have no sympathy for anyone who could not get this done in 30 days. Waiting until the last day is always a bad idea.
I can't for the life of me understand how is this a "fuck you" from the company. Really, and I'm sorry, but if you weren't able to take full advantage of it, if at all, then tough luck. What do you want them to do? Buy you a fucking plane ticket home? Fix your broken router? Put fucking post-it notes on your fucking monitor at work to remind you? Hire a consultant to help you decide between Dead Nation or Super Stardust? Hold your hand and sing soft songs?
Seriously, this is not even a question of whether Sony's security infrastructure and policies. I'm just as furious as the next guy when PSN went down and when news about personal information being possibly leaked went around and when Sony was godawful slow about it - I totally hated how they handled it. I WISH ALL THOSE INVOLVED IN THIS - HACKERS, INCOMPETENT ENGINEERS AND INCOMPETENT EXECUTIVES - WOULD GET MAULED BY GRIZZLY BEARS. But no, this is not about that incident. This is just them trying to make amends, even if in a small way. Note that I didn't say this is enough - they sure as hell better beef up their security next time. But meanwhile, OH, free games from Sony. Thank you, Sony.
Also note that Sony had NO OBLIGATION WHATSOEVER to do this, but they did anyway. Could they have made the period longer? Yes. Could they have added more games? Hell Yes. I could think of a thousand ways this "Welcome Back" thing could have been better. But this is what they've given us. The least I expect from people is to be indifferent or at worst disappointed but to BE TOTALLY UNGRATEFUL AND FUCKING SHIT ON IT? Good Lord, I swear if I were Kaz Hirai I would have thought of stopping altogether because of these thankless pricks.
