yay now when we get monster hunter in the states Sony would of sold one more vita cause that game would be the only reason for me to buy one.
Hey! look at that! the Vita's relevant in Japan now. I wonder if this will propel sales the way Sony wants them to, though. After all, there will be another cheaper, more popular portable with Monster Hunter on it by the time their version comes out.

Sigh, still no home console or PC version. Playing monster hunter on PSP was uncomfortable and awkward, and I doubt this will be much different unless this version also has the camera lock-on from the 3ds version.

So far, though, Pokemon and Monster Hunter makes Nintendo a force to be reckoned with on the handheld front in Japan now.
Sony should really, really work on making an IP that's a system seller for Vita rather than still bank on a third party to do it for them. PSP floundered for years because it didn't have its own Pokemon-level exclusive and Sony didn't really bother to invest in making something that addictive. Capcom did.
Monster Hunter is multi-platform now, so that's not going to help Vita itself.

Vita has dual analog sticks. That should solve the "claw" problem. It did for MH Tri on the Wii at least (with a Classic Controller Pro).

God Japan is so fickle. Its a shame that one game can make or break a platform, but at least Sony isnt oblivious to the fact. Now if they can rack up a Dragon Quest theyll be sitting pretty for 5 years

We don't know how this help Sony yet. In the DS/PSP Mon-Hun was PSP exclusive in the held hand held world. Not anymore. People don't have to buy a Vita to play it when they'll have 2 Mon-Hun games on 3DS by then.

XD i"ll wait for capcom's official announcement. i just hope someday capcom will make another console version. this along with ace attorney are one of the few capcom games that im willing to buy despite the company being an ass to their other IPs. and no monster hunter shits on your beloved HL series you closet freak ^^
Not a huge fan of MH,but I can see the appeal, and being an owner of both a Vita and a 3DS I want them to stay competitive.
I've never really like MH. I really want to, but after playing the demo on psp, it was horrible. Not only were the controls attrocious, due to the camera control and having to use "the claw" method, but there was something else about it that I just can't put my finger on.
In theory, it's a great concept, and one that I would give another chance, if it's done well. I think the Vita could really bring something to the table with this series that would convince me to give it another shot. I'm actually thinking about picking up the MH game on Wii, so I can try it out with "real" controls (2 analog sticks)..
I definitely would have given it a chance if they released it on 3DS here in the US.. but capcom as of late has made some really weird decisions, not only on the games themselves, but cancellations and snubbing the US when it comes to releases and not bundling a circle pad pro with Resident Evil Revelations (after playing the demo with control configuration 'c', and third person shooting, I really don't think the cpp is necessary, since control "c" maps the camera to the face buttons and is actually really smooth when it comes to controlling the game).
Personally, I don't think Sony needs a MH game to be truly successful, at least here in the US.. But if it moves a ton of units in Asia, I'm all for it, as it will attract more developers if the Vita sells alot of units.... Guess we'll have to wait and see.
I'm literally ready to freeze myself "cartman style" in anticipation of Feb. 15th.... I can't wait for Vita!

I never found the claw to be a problem. Somehow, it just came naturally to me.

It pro'lly would have been so much better for them if they had it as a near-to-launch title. At least this is their chance to bounce back in Japan, I suppose.
why was this game never made for the ps3? thay planed it but canceled it. is it only likeable as a portable game in japan?
we already knew that Vita is getting Monster Hunter via downloadable version of MH Portable 3rd from psp as it was announced. it's not new MH game like two 3DS Monster Hunter titles.
I still don't understand the craze around Monster Hunter. Someone please show me the way or give me some clarification. Otherwise I'll always be in the dark about this subject.
It's not difficult to understand the appeal. You fight monsters, harvest their carcasses for materials to forge new weapons and armor, then fight even bigger monsters. Then you gather a group of friends to fight the really big game. The entire game is essentially multiplayer boss rush.
And now all is right with the world, BUT, will fans of the series buy a new iteration, or the vita version which will most likely be a port? If these release back to back for each respective system, it will be an interesting thing to see indeed.
