A Sony official has declared that a Monster Hunter Vita title is set to arrive some time this year, seeming to confirm the game ahead of any official announcement. He said this in response to the Vita's slow Japanese sales, claiming Monster Hunter at launch would've made it more successful.
"The games available at launch in Japan do not correspond to the typology of the Japanese public. It lacks a particular game, Monster Hunter, scheduled for the coming months," said PlayStation France CEO Philippe Cardon. "Had it been there from the start in Japan, the story would have been different."
Monster Hunter is a powerful system seller in Japan, and a handheld gaming device is nothing without its own edition of Capcom's series. Hopefully the Vita picks up when the inevitable game is finally revealed.

I really wish I could understand why.
ROUND ONE - FIGHT!
Not everyoneone like the same game. Japan loves Monster Hunter, America loves Call of Duty, and Europe loves Just Dance.
I wish people like you would stop being ignorant and know that all regions have different demographics.
I know that Japan loves it. I'm saying that I wish I could understand why. Just like I wish I could understand why America loves Call of Duty and Europe loves Just Dance. I'm sorry you're so distressed about my ignorance and I will try my best to please you in the future, Mr. Delicious.
So far, though, Pokemon and Monster Hunter makes Nintendo a force to be reckoned with on the handheld front in Japan now.
Sony should really, really work on making an IP that's a system seller for Vita rather than still bank on a third party to do it for them. PSP floundered for years because it didn't have its own Pokemon-level exclusive and Sony didn't really bother to invest in making something that addictive. Capcom did.
Monster Hunter is multi-platform now, so that's not going to help Vita itself.
Vita has dual analog sticks. That should solve the "claw" problem. It did for MH Tri on the Wii at least (with a Classic Controller Pro).
I wont believe it till its announced
Capcom! Y U NOT RELEASE NEW M.H. IN USA?!?!
I don't think the guy is lying. I just don't see why a game unnanounced by its own developers would be so casualy brought up by a major exec.
If this is true, it might just Piss off Capcom.
Or perhaps he is reffering to the rumored MHP3G on the PSP?
I'll believe this when an actual title is announced.
This is true, and something I also realized awhile ago.
While I think a vita monster hunter will certainly help, I think by how much is currently overstated.
I'm sure the Japanese community think the exact same thing about COD and Gears.
@Foggle
"Not everyoneone like the same game. Japan loves Monster Hunter, America loves Call of Duty, and British women love Just Dance."
Fixed.
Gran Turismo is probably the best representative if you want to speak for the ENTIRETY of Europe, other than that, Europe = North America.
Ok, because you called me Mr. Delicious, I am now cool with you and retract calling you ignorant :)
@Rammstein
Jeez, you're starting to become as bad as Jimboxxx. Calling people weeboos now? *tsk tsk*
@STRYKIE
Dang it! I knew Just Dance wasn't right! Now, about these British women.... Are they fat, or hot British women??
But the Xbox 360 has 2 COD games before the PS3 got one, the PS3 should be a colossal failure!!!!11one!1 AMIRITE?! xD
Anyway, ignoring all the asinine assumptions of demographics, when has a platform EVER, had a good RPG ready at launch? It's never happened, and never will.
Both?
In theory, it's a great concept, and one that I would give another chance, if it's done well. I think the Vita could really bring something to the table with this series that would convince me to give it another shot. I'm actually thinking about picking up the MH game on Wii, so I can try it out with "real" controls (2 analog sticks)..
I definitely would have given it a chance if they released it on 3DS here in the US.. but capcom as of late has made some really weird decisions, not only on the games themselves, but cancellations and snubbing the US when it comes to releases and not bundling a circle pad pro with Resident Evil Revelations (after playing the demo with control configuration 'c', and third person shooting, I really don't think the cpp is necessary, since control "c" maps the camera to the face buttons and is actually really smooth when it comes to controlling the game).
Personally, I don't think Sony needs a MH game to be truly successful, at least here in the US.. But if it moves a ton of units in Asia, I'm all for it, as it will attract more developers if the Vita sells alot of units.... Guess we'll have to wait and see.
I'm literally ready to freeze myself "cartman style" in anticipation of Feb. 15th.... I can't wait for Vita!
How can I understand most of what is being said when I can't speak much less read french?
._.
I never found the claw to be a problem. Somehow, it just came naturally to me.
I was suprised to learn later that it was a real thing that other MH gamers do.
^_^;
In case anyone didn't know, Capcom did something similar with Monster Hunter G for the Wii.
http://www.the-magicbox.com/1201/game120125d.shtml
It appears to be the "G" version of P3rd, in my opinion.
The rumor states it will be released on the psp(with Vita functionality) in december.
@Oishidesu: I always have to copy-paste your name. 'Nuff said!
@PrinceHeir: Ah, my biggest fan! *signs autograph* There you go, sweetie. ;D
