Sony has detailed its "Welcome Back" package for North American PSN users, and the freebies they can pick up as compensation for the downtime. I have to say that the offer is ... not bad. Could have been much worse!
Without further ado, here's what you can nab:
PS3 users can select TWO of the following games:
- Dead Nation
- inFAMOUS
- LittleBigPlanet
- Super Stardust HD
- Wipeout HD + Fury
PSP users can also select TWO from the following list:
- LittleBigPlanet
- ModNation Racers
- Pursuit Force
- Killzone Liberation
In addition, all users get the following extras:
- A selection of “On Us” rental movie titles will be available to PlayStation Network customers over one weekend, where Video Service is available. Those titles will be announced soon.
- 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PlayStation Plus subscribers.
- Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive an additional 60 days of free subscription.
- Existing Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscription members will receive an additional 30 days of free premium subscription.
- Additional 30 days + time lost for existing members of Music Unlimited Premium/Basic subscription free of charge for existing Premium/Basic members.
- To welcome users Home, PlayStation Home will be offering 100 free virtual items. Additional free content will be released soon, including the next addition to the Home Mansion personal space, and Ooblag’s Alien Casino, an exclusive game.
The games Sony offers aren't exactly "hot" ones, but they're decent enough, especially at the price of free. Far better than nothing.

Also, has Sony confirmed if the PSP games can be downloaded to a PS3 and stored for later? I don't have a PSP, but I wouldn't mind holding on to it if I should ever get a PSP/NGP.

It's a nice gesture, and mroe than I expected really, but I just don't trust them anymore. A free game or two isn't going to change that.

I think they still want people to buy those to keep server costs down. Though, I agree that would have been awesome.
At least in Europe, we have Ratchet : Quest for Booty, instead of Stardust
Considering the highest selling game there is LittleBigPlanet which may only be at 4 million at best, most PS3 owners do NOT have these games.

So what do you guys suggest I make my other pick between Stardust, Dead Nation, and Wipeout?
Their heads will explode.
My constructive criticism would be to just remove this new "feature" or "layout" completely, as others have suggested, like things used to be. I appreciate that you are trying new things, but I genuinely feel that this was a pretty bad idea - and a big step backwards in functionality.

As I mentioned before, I totally updated and just stayed offline after resetting my password and deleting my old cc info. I was eager to get back to Demon Souls without the use of online but I look forward to using it tonight.
What happens if you happen to own all of those games on the ps3.?
I own them all besides Wipeout HD + Fury but this is nice welcome back gift.
