Sony counts the ways in which Move beats Kinect/Wii photo

Sony has released a handy comparative breakdown of the PlayStation Move, putting it up against Kinect and the Wii in a variety of categories. Unsurprisingly, Sony has judged that Move beats out the competition. The basic message seems to be that Move does the work of both Kinect and the Wii combined.

Hilariously, Sony adds "built-in rechargeable batteries" as one of its features, and states that Kinect does not have them. Considering Kinect's big gimmick is that the human body is the controller, I'd say that's a little disingenuous. After all, the human body does have rechargeable batteries.

With that in mind, check out the other ways in which Move goes toe-to-toe with its rivals, all according to Sony. You can almost smell the corporate bullshit emanating from your monitor.

No, really? You expected them to come out and say Kinect or Wii are better?

This is a lot less BIASED than Microsofts chart, though.

The batteries is a good point. I must have shares in Energizer the amount I've sunk on AA batteries for Wii/360 controllers.

YES! COLOR-CHANGING SPHERE IS WHAT I WANTED FOR YEARS NOW

They could've saved a lot of time by printing in large block letters 'MOVE > *' and we wouldn't be here.

yay... welcome to a console war of which no one will give a damn... I'm beginning to think this is the last console generation I participate in.

well most of these points are completely off as far as kinect goes and the price of the wiimote makes it pretty alright, I see no real move advantage.

Sony and M$ are starting to try really hard to convince people what they've got going is better.

I was looking into the Move, until I remembered I already had a Wii. The only use of Move that really interests me is the usage of it in LBP.

Wait does this mean Move controllers don't have audio feedback from the controllers? Just because you put it in blue Sony does not automatically mean that colour changing glowing orbs are an improvement.

And I love how they completely sidestep the whole price aspect completely. Stay classy Sony.

The real trick to selling things isn't to have better hardware. It's to have better software that appeals to a large amount of consumers without alienating those that it would not directly appeal to in the process. Until either side can do that, I don't think they will actually understand how Nintendo kicked their ass.

I'm Going with Kinect either way,and Sony knows it. They know most people are going to go with it because its something never been seen. And they feel that their PS Move (aka super-advanced wiimote) can bring them some better sales by making it look like something never seen.

Wait..."Augmented Reality" is one of the items listed?

Really?

Is Sony implying that they'll provide tabs of LSD with a purchase of the Move?

I know it's all marketing P/R bullshit, but that sort of claim is moving towards the realm of absurd.

I'll be more than happy to see this whole motion control fascination hit the wall and sputter to a limping, quiet death.

I'd much rather an engrossing story with engaging gameplay, even if it's generic, over flailing like a spastic tard and waggle control.

Buttons - built in battery - extra controller.

LAWL! That's all the same thing! Plus Kinect doesn't need a controller/batteries.

Minus points for Sony.

wow, it is stuff like this that makes me sad to own and love my sony ps3. Just disgusting, (same goes for me owning my xbox-both company's are guilty). Also fanboys for either console is just as lame. It is like people have to bash the system they don't own to convince themselves their expensive purchase was worth it! But on this topic, the list is bias, i mean really sony..really..I like the no controller for the kinect-um, isn't that their point/gimmick?

Well, the charts don't lie- it's Move for me!

Oh, wait a minute...that's right...I don't give a shit about either of them and I'm only getting Kinect cause my wife wants it.

Also, good on you, Jim, for pointing out the "rechargeable batteries" thing. I was going to comment on that, then read the rest of the text and saw you beat me to it.

This WAY better than microsofts charts. But kinect doesn't have a controller so how can it have audio feedback? And for rechargeable batteries, kinect should've just been blank. Also, for you microsoft fanboys, the playstation eye can do everything the kinect can do. Maybe just not as good, but with the move controller in-hand, it will be able to track your hands MUCH better than with kinect. I'm not tryin to change your guys' minds, but if you want motion control that badly... save up for a ps3... or wii. Ok, maybe not wii but still, don't get the kinect. Besides, you KNOW it's going to have a lot more kiddie games than move will. A don't even think little ol' kids know how to use the move...

who cares about this list? as long as the games are good for any system, i don't care. for kinect, i wouldn't want to control the game with just the camera, rather use it as a "secondary" controller to augment the one in my hands. Move looks like it will be fun, but knowing sony, they might mess up with the communication between their departments, and probably delay some cool games. as for the wii, metroid other m anyone? =D

I love how one of the pluses that Sony gave the Wii and the Move is buttons. I agree with them, but in print it looks hilarious.

These lists are ridiculous, but honestly, this is far more fair than Microsoft's Kinect comparison.

Until either Kinect or Move get some near 3DS level of games out there's going to be a rough couple months/years of us making fun of the epic amounts of PR bullshit spouted off by Sony or Microsoft. Just calm down and either join in or ignore the Kinect/Move articles.

its not tru that the wii doesn't have tracking on the z axes. with the two ir lights on the sensor bar the wiimote can in fact calculate the distance very well. the wii itself supports head tracing providing you use a ir led on your head and use the wiimote as camera.

Rule number 1:
Never talk about the competition. Do not remind the consumer, when you're trying to charm you with your product, that there is competition out there.

Good or bad, advertisement still is advertisement.
