Sony confirms EyePet delay for North America photo

Well, now it's official: EyePet won't see release in North America this holiday.

"The North American territory has decided to take additional time to focus on the EyePet product and can confirm it will not be available this holiday," an Sony rep said in a statement. "EyePet is an innovative and exciting new IP to the PS3 platform and SCEA marketing will spend additional time to continue educating customers and retail channels, setting the table for a successful product launch."

At this time, we have no updated release details -- Sony says it will provided additional details and an "updated launch timeframe very soon."

Our original suggestion to get a cat still stands.

Is that the case only in the US or EU as well? Not that it really matters there's more than enough to play. But I am looking forward to this game. It's gonna be fun.

I hope it gets pushed off a cliff, onto a freeway, and is then run over by a truck. This asexual mutant monkey thing needs to spontaneously implode leaving no trace of its existence.

Horrible news, promised my daughter she'd get this for Christmas this year. Anyone know of a good site to import from the UK to Canada?

Still pretty hyped for this whenever it does eventually drop.

That said, I tried this at PAX and was pretty disappointed with my experience on all fronts.

Hopefully a little extra time in the oven is all it needs.

@Steve Watt:

Not sure. That sucks. I think a kid would really get a kick out of this, and adults (like myself) would be fascinated by the tech. Anyone know where Steven can import this bad boy?

They don't want it competing with MW2 or Uncharted, that'll be it.

@Steve Watt:
Why not Play-Asia or Renchi Imports, they're not allowed to post other region Sony stuff to the UK, but they still often have UK version of software on their store. I can imagine with a delay in NA, that they'll be buying it in bulk for people who've made unwise promises to their kids... little gangsters that they are!

I'll be getting my copy toward the end of the month, I'm a grown man with a GF, but we both think this thing is adorable... And I'm not afraid to admit that!

@Nick

I am very interested in the tech behind this so hopefully my GF thinks this thing is cute as I do want to see what all can go down!
