I now understand why Sony fanboys who have never experienced the 360 themselves really are sad, desperate people. :(
besides 'this' and the missing analog stick the go is cool.
and sonys response, would you really expect anything less. of course they have straight faces, they believe what they are saying.
Side note:I'm a slave to itunes and I hate them for it, I dream of a day that I get a zune HD and forget about the hundreds of songs on my itunes purchased list.
Conclusion: No.
Support: Digital games available weeks behind physical game releases. Large portion of PSP game library unavailable in digital format.
Library: Buy all games again. Not compatible with any UMD. And no way to convert UMDs (you already paid for) to digital format.
Testing?...Check, check.....TESTING!?
Look Sony, I like to think you're cool, but you're making it so hard to do when you say things like this. The PSP Go was nothing short of a joke, the fact that you're backpedaling and reminding us about it is even more laughable.
I don't care that I have a proprietary cable instead of the old standard USB cable. I don't care that I can't buy cheap UMDs because I WANTED to get rid of my UMDs and switch to digital content only. The price point wasn't a problem once I traded in my psp-2000 and my UMDs, especially considering that I was going to have to spend a large chunk of change on a new mem stick if I decided to stick with my 2000 (also my 2000's d-pad was failing on me so I was going to have to get a new one eventually anyway). The control layout isn't uncomfortable to me. So far I haven't had an issue with wanting a game that wasn't available on PSN. I haven't used any homebrew since my psp-1000. Any other major deal breakers?
For most people the Go doesn't make sense, but it was exactly what I wanted from my PSP. Smaller, sleeker, sexier, more internal storage, no umd drive, blue tooth compatibility with my stereo headset, pause game feature, etc.
You can sit and talk shit about the Go all day long, I'm not defending Sony's handling of it, but I would just like to state that I, for one, do NOT feel like a total dumb fuck for buying one. Different strokes for different folks (rip, Gary). Most of the problems people have with the Go I considered to be pros.
It doesn't surprise me when competing core products have aggressively engineered failure rates - and year after year kids continue to buy them.
Kids don't do product research homework before purchasing. They aren't educated consumers. As for adults, they can read and do research - but they would rather not on their days off.
The difference between the two is that Nintendo is actually GOOD at it. They are nickel-and-diming us, to be sure, but every new form
factor Nintendo's released has had at least one new feature with which to entice us. Be it a downloadable games store (and as shit as DSiWare normally is, at least yyou actually have to own a DSi to know for sure what you think of it) or a simple screen size change (and if you don't think that actually entices people, you're wrong), there has always been at least one new feature that justifies a purchase for at least a few people. The Go only subtracted features, and it's from a company who lacks enough market share in the handheld space to actually make that seem like a good idea.
Also, you'll notice that most DSiWare titles are original, whereas a lot of the better Minis can be had for cheaper on the iPhone.
To Sony: GodDAMN did you guys learn the wrong lesson from this. It's not just that people want their physical media, it's that you can't just subtract features from a product you already put out and sell it.
(And I know someone will say PS3 SLIM, but that has a bigger hard drive, a slimmer form factor, and costs a halfway acceptable amount of money, so there are clear advantages to the thing.)
Oh, and don't charge for new cables and new memory sticks just because you want more money. If we're going to pay twice as much for something shittier, our old shit ought to at least work with the thing.
Oh, and also? Don't charge twice as much for something that lacks features of the thing it's supposed to replace. When you take things out, you charge LESS, guys. Even Apple does THAT.
Worthless post to worthless news.
and now he's on that show Chuck haha
