That's true, but why not just make the JP Vita lineup stunning in the first place? 0_0
It reminds me of the Molyneux argument:
1) Fable 2 will be amazing! You thought Fable 1 was good? No, it was shit! Fable 2 will fix all those mistakes!
2) Fable 3 will be amazing! You thought Fable 2 was good? You obviously don't play video games! Fable 3 will fix all those past mistakes!
PSP died an unfair death here. While it was staying healthy in Japan (talking new game wise)
Vita sales continue to slide, last weeks number have the 3DS outselling the Vita more than 5 to 1. If this kind of slide continues, then we're going to get into a catch 22 situation where the Vita doesn't sell because it has a weak library, and the library doesn't get stronger because publishers are hesitant to support a product with a much much lower install base than its competitor.
All I'm saying is that we can sit here and say "Sure its sales are dismal right now, but they'll pick up when [game-x] is released", but do you really think publishers are sitting at their desks saying the same thing when its their money on the line? Not an inevitability, but a viewpoint that bears mentioning for sure.
It's really weird what's happening to a lot of iZombies out there. I game pretty heavily on my iPhone, but for some reason it didn't blow up my 3DS, and didn't steal the money from my Vita pre-order.
I must be lucky!
Wouldnt even say they're wrong exactly.
@magnalon
Taking the wildest of stabs at it, but the Japanese seem to be a lot more patient then the rest of the world. We can't seem to wait a few months like they can.
Do like your use of ol' Shifty Pete's approach to game marketing though. Dude kills me every time.
Uncharted's much bigger over here than it is in Japan. LittleBigPlanet and Modnation might not exactly be Mario or Zeldas, but they're not bad.
The 3DS is a really great console. It is doing well now.
The Vita is a really great console. I hope it does just as well soon.
But you wouldn't put those franchise against Mario Kart and Mario Bros's 20+ million sales in the same class.
And we have to remember: the 3ds never sold as low as the vita is, especially so close to launch.
The price cut was enacted to get devs and investors to stop bitching, because Nintendo couldn't meet their overzealous forecasts. Certainty in their software had nothing to do with it.
Although, I also suspect that 250 was a placeholder until Sony announced the vitas price...
