You would think they would have made it bluetooth like everything else that is officially licensed for ps3. Im sure there is some reason that people smarter than myself had for making it usb plug in instead. oh well
Eh, too pricey for something that will only work with the PS3 for me. I'd rather just buy a regular USB headset that I can use with anything.
It looks great to me. If I knew that they would launch it, I would not have bought my Turtle Beach P11 this month. And they are wireless too. 7.1 virtual surround sound, wireless, probably recheargeable out of the box? 99,99 looks like a great price to me.
Not bad of a pricing, considering other pro headset prices.

Probably bandwidth. Bluetooth only gets to 2.1MB/s in both directions, which is pretty low for high quality stereo with a mic channel, specially if you want to simulate 7.1 surround.

The Logitech F540 stomps all over this and can be used with a PS3, a 360, and any stereo source. It costs a little more, but I got mine on sale for about $100 at bestbuy so its worth waiting for. The Logitechs are great as are the wired and wireless PC variants (although I like my Siberias more on PC due to the open air design).
I already have a headset just like this for my pc, and it sounds like they are adding audio out via USB, so my headset should work! unless sony is going to be assholes about it.

Wireless headsets are an atrocious idea. The sound quality suffers, there's sync problems (i.e. lag, which is far more noticable in audio than anything else), you've got the weight of battery to ad din which always makes them less comfortable and the battery drain is always mush quicker than is ideal. Not to mention they need both compression and a noise gate; if you have just one your sound will be shafted, if you have neither you might as well not bother. Those, plus virtual 7.1, is going to be a gigantic drain on the battery plus the amount of background noise is going to be horrendous, even with the noise gate.
Really wish people would learn that wireless is very rarely a good thing. Cordless phones around the house, sure. Mobile phones, okay. For everything else hardwired is always better. That's why you don't see a single band other than pop acts and hack metal bands using wireless systems on stage, that's why all film and studio equipment is hardwired.

I like that it is wireless USB and not a shit ton of cables that need to be plugged in. I was looking at one set (Turtle beach I think) and it looked well and fine untill you had to mess around with your optical cord and all that jazz. I just want a nice headset that works without removing all the cords from the back as it would be for night time gaming only.

Hey hey!!! Now that my whore of an ex wife has taken my money, my house, and I'm living in my moms basement I could really use these as a hold over until I move into my new place and set up my new gaming room.
Rocking my regular Sony wireless stereo headphones for years now. These might actually finally replace them. Looking silly is no issue when they're comfortable. The ones I'm wearing are so damn nice I forgot to take 'em off a couple of times when going out. Until it could't pick-up the signal of course. Which was surprisingly far from home.

so can someone tell me if theyre patching up to add usb audio output support? i have plenty of wireless and wired headsets that would work well. although the 100 bucks isnt bad
Willing to bet they sound just as muddy and hiss-tastic as a set of Turtle Beaches. TB Earforce DSS/Astro Mix Amp with a decent set of Sennheisers like the HD555/595 would be far better, but double the price.
I'd honestly like to know why the fuck I can't use my sweet Nokia BH-905's for more than voice? Is Sony against Bluetooth audio?!?!
I have 2 Sony MDR-V150's that I use on a regular basis and I think they sound good, so I wouldn't worry about how these sound. They look ridiculously cheesy though, what was Sony thinking.
The price is good. The features are good.
It's just that they look very, very heavy, which is bad because of weight affects comfort during prolonged periods of use. I can't imagine how much ear and hairline sweat these are going to have build up underneath them.
