Sony Pictures now owns the film rights to Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed game franchise, says our sister site Flixist.
What does Sony plan to do with these rights? Who knows? As of yet there's no solid plans or dates, let alone any kind of cast information, but I'm sure game and its lore will make a fantastic Hollywood film. Sci-Fi, time travel, stabbing...oh, and rooftop climbing. Jumping from rooftops always makes for a good movie.

Every time I see this pic in the little "around the web" roll up above I think it's something... else.
What, better than the film in every conceivable way? Me too, that's nothing but a plus.
I mean Prince of Persia was the entire reason they set up UMP, and I doubt they'd go ahead with a deal if they lost significant creative rights over what has arguably become their biggest franchise in recent years.
Or they could have just thrown all buisness sense out the window and done something fucking dumb. Wouldn't be the first time.
