Sony: 15 first party exclusives are coming photo

Microsoft may believe it's leveled the playing field as far as exclusives go, but Sony is not yet out for the count. Sony boss (and erotic fiend) Jack Tretton has revealed that fifteen first party titles are heading to the PS3, which doesn't include the work of second party studios like Sucker Punch or Insomniac.

As is customary with Sony, Tretton never actually listed the titles, he merely said they existed. Still, fifteen is a lot of games and there are sure to be some gems buried within the pile. We know at least one of them will be God of War III, and with a game that hot, Sony is definitely off to a good start.

I've said in the past that the PS3's exclusive lineup is looking more interesting than anything else to me right now, and I really hope that some high profile games are yet to be announced. I'm sure of the fifteen titles, a number of them will be PSN games, which is great as well, but I really want to see more retail dominance from Sony. Fingers crossed, eh?

Competition is good, makes sure both parties always have something cookin up. Bring it on Sony.

Well, it's nice to see that first-party developers are remaining loyal. XD

You can add to the list "Project David Jaffe" or if you're Geoff Keighley or anyone else interviewing him "New Twisted Metal"

Man, remember when first party games were for losers like Nintendo? How will third party games sell on PS3 with first party games like this?

@Covah
Uncharted 2, MAG and Ratchet and Clank shouldn't be on that list, I think. Their devs, namely Naughty Dog, Zipper, and Insomniac are 2nd-party.

That story was extremely disturbing.

Yet I can't stop fapping to it. While crying.

Judging by the new PSP Go's download only, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony was moving the PS3 in this direction also (in a slow manner of course)

The most disappointing thing about the PS3 thus far is the lack of Sony Japan Studio games on the console. We got The Last Guy and Loco Roco Screensaver and... that's it, right?

Sony Japan 1st and 2nd part games like Gitaroo Man, Jumping Flash, Ape Escape, Parappa the Rapper, and Ico/Colossus were some of my favorite games on the PS1 and PS2.

One Team Ico game is a good start, but it's not far from enough.

Something tells me that of those 15, only 5 or 10 fit into the list as a hunch.

And if 15 first-party games is enough to make the PS3 worthwhile, The Xbox is doing pretty fine.

...Still getting one.

Ecocrome is Japan studios and there is another PSN game, but I cannot remember for the life of me what it is.

I fucking love my PS3 exclusives, honestly they are some of the best games I have ever played in my life. And to think that where just going to get more of them makes me very very happy. Like Infamous is the one of the first open world games I really like and do not get bored of playing. Other than Burnout Paradise those are on a very short list of open world games I enjoy. Keep up the good work Sony, I will keep buying your products as long as they are at this level of quality.

This is why I buy Sony, everytime.

There are many reasons that (other than Windows and Office) I don't buy Microsoft, many many reasons. Even Windows and Office are a pain in my arse that i would rather not need.

Nintendo, I buy, then get bored of.

The only first-party titles I can think of are:

01) God Of War 3 (SCE Santa Monica)
02) MAG (Zipper Interactive)
03) Gran Turismo 5 (Polyphony Digital)
04) Africa (Rhino Studios)
05) The Last Guardian (Team Ico)
06) White Knight Chronicles (SCE Japan)
07) The Agency (Sony Online Entertainment)
08) Twisted Metal (Eat Sleep Play)
09) Fat Princess (Titan Studios)
10) Uncharted: Among Thieves (Naughty Dog)
11) EyePet (SCE Studio London)

Add to that any future titles from the likes of...
Killzone (Guerilla Games)
WipEout (SCE Studio Liverpool)
MotorStorm (Evolution Studios)
Warhawk (SCE Santa Monica)
Siren (SCE Japan Studio)
Everybody's Golf (Clap Hanz)

Yeah, they'll announce them all for next year and beat their chest, then slowly delay them until like two are left each year. First party offerings for 2009 are pretty scarce compared to pre-E3 assertions.

@Robbo the hood: I know you've heard this by now. What gamer hasn't, but the 2009 business cycle doesn't end until March. So technically 2009 has barely started.

15 exclusives and absolutely no details about any of them. Brilliant marketing.

It's like the "Agent" announcement at E3 all over again. We have a lot of cool stuff but we're not gonna give you any details.
