You always need an ice level, and Sonic Unleashed delivers. This latest trailer shows off the Holaska stage, which looks all pretty and probably has the best music so far. The game is due out this month, but for some reason Sega has still kept its mouth shut on a firm release date, continuing merely to say "The Holiday."

These trailers are fun and all, but I'm ready to play the full game. Give me a release date, Sega! I want to see if my trust has once again been misplaced, or if Sonic can prove the cynics wrong.

I hate the fact that ice levels are so common in platformers that they're being labeled as obligatory. Ice levels are my second most hated level type, just behind water levels.

But will there be a sewer level?

I hope Sonic isn't as hard to control in the game in general as he is in the ice level.

One of the things I hated the most about Sonic The Hedgehog (the 2006 game, not the awesome original) was the fact that sonic was hard to control, and would often go through the level due to a glitch.

I hope Sega have actually made a good sonic game here.

The cynics'll always find something to bitch about. If you like it, eat it up, and the hell with them. Unless it's SONIC '06.

Or Sonic Advance 2. Yeah, I said it.

I haven't purchased a Sonic game since Sonic Adventure 2 on the Dreamcast, but this one has piqued my interest ...

Damn.

There are games that for some reason I just must fucking have at the moment.

Sonic Unleashed is one of them right now.

Sonic always looks good in trailers, teasers, and game video form, I admit it looks damn good, but I hope it plays damn good as well.. I miss a good sonic game

I don't know if it's just me, but I still think that this 'weresonic with rubber hands' looks lame

but, besides this fact, the video looks pretty cool.

If there is a sewer level I will be pissed off.

The level looks pretty cool, but I miss the creative levels like casino night zone where the levels had FLAIR. Not just realism.

Nice level! The music sounds sort of sounds like inverted Mario Galaxy music...

I refuse to say anything positive after Sega has done so much wrong.

I will say, I can't wait to play it. I'm officially excited.

The lovable, yet daunting "Ice Level". Just reminiscing about using a snowboard in Sonic 3 (and literally taking a "leap of faith" before a snowball made you a snowman).
Plus I love the little details, especially with the water mammals swimming about. Maybe a boss battle?

I was trying to stay away from this game when I first heard about it but these trailers make it look fun. So either this game is going to actually be fun or the trailers are lying, and let's face it, trailers never lie.

Oh no, I hope this is the last vid and they don't show off every level before the game's release like they did with Sonic and the Secret Rings...

That being said, I like the level's apparent flow. Seems reminiscent of Ice Cap zone with lots of blind leaps and a "boarding" segment.

More importantly, that music reminded me of the good ol' Sonic. I hope it's as good as it seems, for the most part.

just saw a Q&A with some of the team while a guy was playing, and i counted him die by falling off the infamous 'edge of the world' 3 times in like 4 minutes. i hope he just sucked.

if this turns into another sonic 06 death fest im going to be so annoyed...my confidence is seriously knocked BUT im hoping its going to be as fun as this ice level trailer suggests...

Up2NoGood:

I can only speak for the level I played, but the only time I fell to my death was a mis-timed homing jump that was my own fault. I was quite impressed.

I hope that the rest of the game does not fall into the Sonic 06 trap.
