Sonic Unleashed launched for Wii and PS2 this week and is hitting the Xbox 360/PS3 next week. It looks like the deluge of videos regarding this game is about to end, because we now finally have the launch trailers.

I shall be at Sega UK's offices on Friday to get some early playtime in with the Xbox 360 version, so hopefully I will be able to decide if this game is as decent as it was when I played a demo in Tokyo. We shall see.

The above video is for the 360/PS3 version, and you can see the Wii/PS2 trailer after the jump. It has better music. It also has better graphics.

It doesn't have better graphics.

Once you're done with that, make sure to check out this week's Retroforce GO, where the crew talk about Unleashed and the Sonic series. I happen to be on it as well, ruining the whole thing with my impersonations of of Sonic 2006

Impersonations? Like, you look the wrong way and die for no reason? That would be both tragic and hard to communicate in a podcast.

...I'll just go listen to the thing.

Jim, which version are you going to be reviewing? Will you be able to compare the Wii and PS3/360 versions in your review? I'd like to know which one has better level design(as each one had a different team make the levels).

Dear lord was the wii/ps2 trailer mode as a bad 90s B movie on purpse?
Hmm methinks I'll be getting the 360 one, well tbh I know I am.
The crisper textures and blur effect they're doing with the engine really do look like they enhance the points of eye melting speed.
Hmmm the wii/ps2 one aint exactly a looker even for the ps2 at all which is a bit of a suprise.

@Squawk

Why do they have to be compared? I thought we were past the whole "Sega does what nintendont" era.

Wait wait wait ...

If a game is not as good as Super Mario Galaxy, it doesn't belong on the Wii?

Well fuck, that means the Wii should have one fucking game.

Squawk, you are a terminal troll. Stop being wrong.

I bought the Wii version last night, played it while listening to Retroforce and I completely agree with everything Jim has stated so far. The game has a lot of polish, which cannot be said of any previous 3D Sonic. I've only played a little bit of Unleashed myself, but it was fun, it's not a monumental achievement, but it was fun, therefore, I am pleased.

and Jim, thank you for doing Retroforce, you were hilarious!

why do they keep shoving speed down our throats when it comes to sonic?

any non-genesis sonic i've played has not kept me interested at all. The most fun parts of the genesis games were not fast. it was the platforming and boss fights. Speed was just used to get across gaps or reach higher locations.

moving super-fast in one direction is not fun outside of a racing game.
