Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I'm assuming you're talking about Sonic Crackers? It's actually a prototype/engine test for some of the gameplay of Knuckles Chaotix.
I remember playing Super Mario Bros 4 and 5 on the NES, that were some sprite swaps from Tiny Toon Adventures and a weird game by McDonalds. I also played at least 4 different versions of Street Fighter II on the NES (always with japanese or chinese menus) so we didn't have to get a SNES like the rich kids. But the best one was a cartridge with "more than 100 games" that were actually 100 hacked versions of contra or SuperC, each starting with a different weapons, a different number of lives, or on a different stage.
That McDonalds game wasn't a hack, it was a real game called MC Kids. I remember renting that game from West Coast Video when I was just a wee lad. I remember actually liking it, but who knows if I still would.
It was horrible.
MC Kids is one of my favorite NES games. It's a fun little platformer similar to Mario 2, but with some unique twists (flipping yourself upside-down being one of them). It gets a lot of shit for being a licensed McDonald's game, and people say it "ripped off" Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers, which isn't true. Personally I think it's a better game.
I actually remember my friend and I playing this, for a brief moment, during our WildCard DX days. As well as the game, Magnalon was talking about, where Sonic and Tails were shackled to each other.
Damn crazy pirated ROM hacks. Weird.
