It's the game we've all been waiting for! Sega has today announced Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, a "fast and furious battle to the finish line." It's coming to the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS, and it's due out in early 2010.
All-Stars Racing seems to be the spiritual successor to Sega Superstars Tennis, which was actually surprisingly good, despite its simplicity. Hopefully this racing game can be just as fun. It pulls on the exact same nostalgic heartstrings, with Sonic being joined by the likes of Amigo and AiAi from Super Monkey Ball. Would it be too much to have a Streets of Rage character this time? Probably.
I'm actually going to give it a chance, based on the quality of Superstars Tennis. It'll certainly be no Mario Kart, but it may very well surprise us. We have a trailer after the jump, so be sure to check that out.

Looking at tails there in his plane (which is grounded in the screenshots but not in the trailer), why can't more racing games take an idea from Diddy Kong Racing? Have karting, flying and boating in the same game!
It's Sonic like one of the fastest things alive? Couldn't he just freaking you know GTFO of the car and RUN! I really have to stop trying to put common sense and games together. Anyway this does look interesting and I can't really comment on it till I see some gameplay
Looks like Sonic Drift+, I for one, could not care less. THough the moment i saw this article, my head and all thoughts stopped, followed by a sigh and a click on the play button.
Sigh. Trailer wasn't even exiting.
And I who like/liked Sonic.
I'm kinda interested in this. I mean, I liked Sega Superstars Tennis, and besides, putting Sonic is a car sort of handicaps him in a sensible manner. I dunno, if they somehow made the games as exciting as the damn trailer, that's some really exciting game.
Sonic R was a pretty good game and Sega's done well in the past with Sega Rally so hopefully they'll blend to two quite well but I can't help but think this'll just be another arcadey item-fest.
As Jaffacakelover said, this reminds me a lot of Diddy Kong racing. This could be actually fun, you know. I wonder if Beat makes an appearance and what kind of vehicle would it need.
This might be alright. I'll give any kart racer a try. And heck, I liked Sonic R. As for the other Sega All-Stars.. I know it's a long shot, but I want to see Pulseman. :(

I mean, ignoring that crap Sonic pulled in Secret Rings. What the hell was that, skidding into a 90 degree turn and bursting forward, not losing any speed AT ALL?!
Maybe the Tornado is yellow because the vehicles are meant to be coordinated with the driver?
I liked Sonic Drift back in the day, and if it's anything like that then I won't mind. Seeing the plane though does remind me of Diddy Kong Racing also, and if it's like that, it would be cool. Eh, wait and see.
Until I buy a Wii, my Kart Racing cravings will have to come from this, which isn't a bad thing. Surprisingly enough, this game actually looks like it's going to be a lot of stupid fun. Granted, it's only a trailer, but you can't say that doesn't at least look like fun.
I just want to know about the music. Will it be strange as in Sonic R (Okay, this game looks more like a Sonic Drift 3, but anyway..)?

I wish they would make a new Sonic R(pretty much my favorite/most played Sonic game). If this is like Tennis, it should be good (and hopefully) cheap fun.
I call bullshit. sonic can fucking RUN faster than that stupid little car. that better be an unlockable option. just sonic on foot, and he'd better be the fastest thing in the game. otherwise i call fucking BULLSHIT on the whole franchise.
