Sonic's daddy and company tease new Sega game photo

Former head of Sonic Team Yuji Naka and his new studio, Prope, have opened up a teaser Web site for an untitled upcoming game.

The site doesn't offer much information on the title, but does promise a "World first, a game that even penguins can play." While we have no idea what in the hell that means, it may not be long until we find out. The Web site promises that the game will be revealed in 17 days, which just happens to be the first day of Tokyo Game Show.

It looks like until then, we'll have to speculate. A game that could be played by penguins, eh? Well, a penguin might have trouble using its flippers to operate a traditional controller, but wouldn't have much of a problem with the Wii Balance Board. Also, the "17 days" was changed from "ten days," which would have coincided nicely with Nintendo's October 3 press conference.

Hmmm ...

I really hope that whatever kind of game they hope to do, it's not just a slapped together "casual" game.

@garison

There is a difference between casual and casual mini-games. Halo and Rock Band are casual games. Raving Rabbids and a lot of Wii games are casual mini-games

You just said Halo was a casual game; is that because it's popular? Because Halo isn't really a "casual" game by normal casual game standards. It's not particular accessible to "casual" players, either.

Calling games "casual" is stupid, anyhow.

If a Penguin cant play it im gonna be pissed off!!!

@nick Chester

They should be 'called occasional' gamers, and i agree, even though Halo 3 didnt appeal to me, im not so bitter as to name it casual...Its like saying Final Fantasy series are casual..Someone wanted to start a fanboy sloggin match me thinks.or he miss typed it as he choked on his own job lot of spunk.

For the last TIME! Yuji Naka isn't Sonic's creator, it was Naoto Oshima who came up with Sonic, Naka was a lead programmer on the Sonic Team. I mean look at Sonic CD, that was Sonic without Naka and istead with Oshima.

Ok, Halo is casual to guy games?

I know people who aren't gamers and all they say they play are Halo and RockBand/Guitar Hero.

@BlindsideDork:

So does that make the games or the gamer "casual"?

@Waffleman:

So what you're trying to say is that Sonic was Yuji Naka's idea and Naoto Oshima brought him coffee during the development of the first title?

Well the gamer would be casual depending on how often they play.

Penguin swimming simulator, now with the arm straps for the wii remote. Flap your arms just like a penguin and partake in the wonderful life of a penguin, hands free.

On the cereal though:

Could it be a new Penguin Land game? Other than that game, I don't remember any Sega made games focusing on penguins.

I'm confused, is a "casual game" or "casual gamer" a euphemism?
You know, like a man who wears "comfortable shoes"?
because Halo doesn't feel very casual to me. Actually, I always end up sweating when I play Rock Band so that doesn't seem very casual to me either.

Off to play a nice relaxing bit of Warhammer. WAAAGH!

A game that even penguins can play... *thinks about what penguins do* ...well, they slide on their bellies, so maybe its a Wii game that uses the balance board...and they waddle one step after the other, so maybe a less demanding version of Athlete Kings is on the way...
