     Sonic

Sonic and the Black Knight is heading to the Wii and puts a sword into the hedgehog's hand for -- I believe -- the very first time. Yes, rather than using the age-honored skill of jumping, Sonic now has a blade with which to do battle, and here are some shots.

As far as Wii games go, this is actually looking rather pretty. Of course, Sega is very good at making games look visually impressive. It's the "gameplay" part where the titles often come unstuck, and Black Knight will need to do a lot in order to make up for Sonic and the Secret Rings

"Seven rings in hand," etcetera.

COME ON, SEGA, WHAT THE HELL. GOD DAMMIT, YOU'RE A JAPANESE COMPANY. JAPAN HAS, LIKE, 13 GB/S INTERNET THESE DAYS. DO YOU NOT SPEND ANY TIME ON ANY FORUMS? LISTEN TO YOUR FANS. STOP GIVING SONIC CHARACTERS WEAPONS. STOP CREATING NEW CHARACTERS THAT NOBODY CARES ABOUT. STOP TRYING TO REINVENT THE SONIC SERIES.

I just want Sonic the Hedgehog 4 :(
Sonic Adventure was definitely pushing it for me and for the most part sucked as far as I'm concerned. What the hell is wrong with just having a fun platformer? Sonic was a two-dimensional character and he should stay that way - in more ways than one.

I want Sonic sans narrative and sans sword.

I read that article printed in that one Nintendo Powar article, and it sounds(emphasis thar) like it would make a better(and more traditional) Sonic game than Unleased.

How is that possible? Sonic Unleashed has actually seemed like it'll be pretty decent and traditional (sans the werehog thing..whatever that is..) whereas here, Sonic has a sword.

Mind sharing what the Nintendo Power article said?

17 times. That's how many times the final boss of Kingdom Hearts says "darkness." My friends and I just laughed every time he said it again. "Something something something darkness."

Umm, dont have the article in front of me right now, but stuff like multiple branching pathways through a level, missing citizens hidden through a level that need to be rescued(which could end up like finding the hidden giant rings in 3) and provide a reward. Umm...also, that the sword could be used for new platforming elements(say, plunging it into a wall for slow decent). I also recall the guy mentioning that the sword combat would be implemented smoothly, and that you wouldn't need to slow down or stop for any combat maneuvers and such.

Maybe I'll go home this weekend so I can get the article in front of me.

Oh, but let me emphasize the fact that this is just how it sounds like the game will be. Final product may still be a turd.

I don't get why Team Sonic has to take a good idea and then shit all over it. First case: Sonic Unleashed. Side-scrolling Sonic rendered in 3D? Hot damn, sounds awesome. Oh wait, that's only 60% of the game? And 40% of the game you play as a werehog in 3D? Sounds like you're crossing over into Shadow the Hedgehog's territory again.

And now, this. Branching pathways is all well and good, but I have a major problem with Sonic having a sword rather than doing a spin attack to enemies. But I'd be interested in the article if you do get a chance to go home, Palidi.
