It's the modern Sonic, of course it sucks. Well sucks is probably too hard, but even when 3D Sonic is good it's only just good. Not really good or even great, but just good.
I liked the modern sonic playstyle though, I mean once they started getting it right with the Unleashed day levels and Colors.
It's like they are trying to pull a Brutal Legend, throwing out a demo that is completely unrepresentative of the final product. Sure there is going to be some early sonic but to get to it your going to have to sit through a ton of Modern Sonic. Bleh.
I don't get why demos are so exclusive these days.
Demos are a PROMOTIONAL TOOL, not a privileged! Nowadays you have to reserve, or even buy other games to get them! Zone of the Enders started a bad trend <3 - then again, I did play the MGS2 demo for around 20 hours...

Just finished playing it a few times, like what I'm seeing so far. It took some getting used to the way Sonic moved and such, but definetly good in my book. Also, Sega needs to fix the shade of yellow on the flowers...
Aw, really? I wanted to try the modern level. If you only get classic, you'll only be able to tell if you like half of the game. Sega always does this shit, too. They show off the best aspect and then fuck you over when you buy the title.
@ Ninjasnake, damn right! I nearly cried when I discovered I'd bought an rts. Was so pissed! Chances are that this game will suck donkey balls and the bit that is used to draw everybody in will barely appear in the finished product. The modern Sonic is the reason I'm getting this game. It looks just like Sonic Colors to me. The 2D stuff is fine too, but not nearly as fun.
This will be the first Sonic game I buy after Sonic Heroes. Which will make it the second Sonic Game I buy.
It appears the sonic cycle is in full swing. Cannot wait to see all the shattered hopes when it releases.
Controls were sloppy, framerate went weird a few times for me, physics seem weird and I was overall just very bored while playing. Sonic cycle, you continue to reign true. I thought this was going to be average, and was surprised to find it wasn't even good enough to qualify as that.
I find it amusing that Sonic 3 is 20 megs(originally 16 megs), Sonic and Knuckles is 30 megs(but was also 16 megs on cartridge)while Sonic Generation's demo alone takes up 653 megs of hard drive space.
Back in the olden days, that demo would have run you $2700 at the very least, what, with it being around 27 times the size of Phantasy Star 4 which cost $100.

Why limit the amount of time that I can play the demo? I want to play it forever.

Somebody pinch me..I actually enjoyed the demo. The last Sonic game that I liked was Sonic Adventure 2. I'll still hate the hold forward to win unleashed gameplay but well, it's a start.
That demo was WAY too short. I liked it, but could do with at least one more level to confirm my purchase.
I played it at E3 and at the Sonic Boom event and I liked the Modern Sonic level a bit more, but maybe that's because it's a longer level with more speed to it.
I like the Classic Sonic level a lot too. I played it more than the Modern one but mostly because there was a time attack at the Sonic Boom event. Now that I beat the level in about 55 seconds, there isn't much to see in the level as the Modern one.
I hope they will release the full demo without an expiration date soon.

I liked what I played, although the framerate bothered me a little. I think it was running at 30 fps, but it felt more choppy to me for some odd reason. I'ma try it on my friend's xbox sometime this weekend, and see how it runs there. Then maybe, I'll just pick it up for the box.
Now that I've played the demo, I can say without reservation that I'd like it better if it played like Sonic CD, the most 'classic' Sonic there is.

Framerate's really choppy, makes it hard to see ahead sometimes. Sonic somehow feels too weighed down. I don't want to sound like I'm whining though.

It's because they are going to release multiple demos. Did you guys not catch that this was demo #1? Depending on how many they release they probably don't want to give people half of the game before its out.
Also, what platform are people getting choppy framerates on? I played on PS3 and got none of that, which it would surprise me if PS3 got the better version. Times have changed though.

Also, why is every already being critical of the modern titles. This was the logical level to release first. Why release a modern level instead of the first level of the first game.
I really like it, and I know I'll like the modern stages, too. Seriously though, this makes Sonic 4 look like shit- and I liked Sonic 4.
