One of the greatest platforming levels of all time, Chemical Plant Zone, is set to appear in Sonic Generations, and the very first gameplay footage has been posted on the Internet for our viewing pleasure. It is not disappointing.
This footage gives us a look at both the "classic" and "modern" stages, complete with revamped music. It looks pretty damn fantastic ... I hope it plays as good.

Meet the rest of the team
The gunk is the wrong shade of blue. Sonic jumps half an inch too low and he falls too fast. The camera pulls back too far to be an accurate recreation of the original Chemical Plant Zone.The blue aura surrounding the heads up display is too distracting.I think that Sonic's spines might even be too pointy on account of not being pixelated properly. That means that Sonic Generations will be the worst game ever of all times and that goes for all possible futures.
This is the 1st Sonic game I've been genuinely excited for since Sonic Adventure 2. I remember hearing somewhere that the Casino level is an exclusive level for the 3DS version. I'm going to get the 3DS version, plus the PS3 version just for the Chemical Plant zone.
Whenever I doubt some things are more enjoyable retro, I'll listeb to this video.
I won't judge the game without playing it, but the old sonic music sounds like a tune to me, I can remember it, hum it. That modern remix just sounds like they overlaid it with white noise.
Old Sonic Chemical Plant looked nice but the rest was meh. Won't don't they understand that fans want a new Sonic 2 style game with no homing stuff or truck chases and horrible songs. Take the Sonic 2 engine, make new zones and levels, and suddenly you have the best sonic game since the genesis/mega drive days.
That actually looked REALLY good in the 2D sections, but the 3D sections make me wonder if Team Sonic will ever manage to figure out how to make a 3D Sonic game ever control fluidly again (doesn't seem like they've managed to make a 3D game control well since Sonic Adventure 2).
Original Sonic in the city area looked down right amazing.
@Xelotath
Fans don't know what the hell they want. "WE WANT SONIC ADVENTURE 3!" You get unleashed (originally named Sonic World Adventure) and you bitch about it. "WE WANT A 2D ONLY GAME" you get Sonic 4, bitch about the physics. "WE WANT THE OLD SONIC!" You get generations, and you still bitch about it. Admit it: you don't reaaly want a Sonic game, do you?
nope, because they've all sucked lol. and i'm not saying i'm a fan. hell i haven't bought a sonic game since sega saturn.
and this doesn't look any good either, at least to me. sure it may LOOK good...but judging from the demo, it won't play very well. that demo was a mess.
Played the demo on PS3 and 360. I REALLY hope they get the framerate up a lot. Playing on the PS3 in 3D turned the game into a Goddamned slideshow. 360 fared slightly better, but not by a lot. I really want to like this game because what I saw here looks awesome, both 3D and 2D wise. All the level design in the world means nothing when the gameplay chugs.
Have you played Sonic Colors DS? It was a significant improvement on the Rush formula, fewer "hold right to win" scenarios and much better level design. Colors DS was almost as good as some of the Genesis games, and I think Dimps knows where to take Generations on 3DS.
Hmm the classic remix of city escape was kinda catchy ^^ but its good to see good ol chemical plant, I just hope the controls will be allright. Next it seems like we'll be getting Spagonia, Now That will be fun ^^
My childhood just kicked me in the face. I can't wait for this.
@ShadowboyT
I completely missed that, but it's awesome. I'm so glad they're at least giving Mighty a shout, seeing as how he even used Sonic's sprite in the one game he appeared in.

Also, am I the only one who saw the missing sign with Mighty and Ray on it at the very end of the video?
I wonder if this'll be in the 3DS version, i'm considering getting that but i'm not sure what other differences to the other versions there will be.
but....
Is it just me or does Sega not know how to make a good demo of their game? I just see the guy keep running into walls left and right.
The 3DS version has entirely different levels save for Green Hill Zone, and the Modern sections will play like Sonic Rush.
So the modern sections of the 3DS version will be "Press Right To Win"?
I won't judge the game without playing it, but the old sonic music sounds like a tune to me, I can remember it, hum it. That modern remix just sounds like they overlaid it with white noise.
As for me I excited for both original and modern modes:D

...but god DAMN does the person playing in these previews duck! He's worse than whoever does preview vids for GameSpot!

How about a not-shitty Sonic game? Can we get one of those?
nope, because they've all sucked lol. and i'm not saying i'm a fan. hell i haven't bought a sonic game since sega saturn.

But %50 of Unleashed sucked and Sonic 4 is at best average.
No, no, you're mistaken, my friend. If you hold right in a Sonic Rush game, you crash into an enemy or a bed of spikes that appears out of nowhere.
@ninjikiran
There's a Casino Night pinball bonus DLC for the console games. Not exactly what you want, but eh.
