OK I don't care if people think I'm trolling or hating or flaming or what, my honest opinion is that all fan films suck but this one takes the cake. Even for a fan film that is some ass CGI. It's like a z-grade version of Michael Bay Presents: Autism. Someone should just put a bullet in Sonic, it's over.

The Mega Man movie wasn't terrible, but it wasn't that great either. This will probably be more of the same, but I'll still watch it.
That mustache is not bushily magnificent enough for Robotnik. Other than that, I will withhold judgment.
I love how the people who bash stuff like this have about a 1% chance of ever having done anything creative themselves. Is it going to be some professional, multi-million dollar production? Hell no, it won't be. But it's a free movie made by a fan, just for the love of the franchise. No one is paying for it, and it's a project done just because he's passionate. Is nothing sacred anymore?

You don't have to have worked on a movie to differentiate between good and crap. His love and passion is misplaced. Thank jeebus it's free and no one's paying for it. Perspective and scale. It's all about perspective and scale. Would a typical fan film work as a Hollywood movie? Likely not. But that's not what we're necessarily measuring against. Some people can look past the understandably low-grade equipment and see the love of the source material beyond. We won't know until the full film is released.

El oh ell, phr33kachu. What the fuckin' hell do you expect for a fan film? Pixar or Dreamworks quality? That CGI looks out of this world for a fan produced movie. Seems to be a step up from Mega Man so it looks like they're improving. Always a good sign! Aside from Sonic's cameo in Wreck it Ralph, this is probably the best you're going to get. I'll be watching it as a loyal fan with an open mind.

The compositing isn't quite right (the running speed of the Sonic model isn't quite synced to the camera speed used to shoot the background), the lightsourcing looks to be simulated and not captured, the refraction off the fur is wrong (and it doesn't even seem to refract off the eyes, you know like real eyes would), the model doesn't seem to be casting realistic shadows on any of the backgrounds, and the metalic surfaces on the robots don't reflect the environment properly.

So what if the CG and actors aren't hollywood and pixar quality, thats not what fan films are about. I play the guitar and although I don't sound like Jimmy Hendrix I can make a tune and enjoy it, it's the same thing here, you ignore the rough parts and enjoy the passion of something creative.

I usually don't watch fan films and I don't class myself as a true Sonic fan but I think this trailer looks good. Defo keep this on my radar.
