I've been looking forward to Sonic Colors ever since we saw gameplay at E3! It looks like a blast to play, mixing the day stages of Sonic Unleashed with some classic platforming from the Genesis era Sonic. Even if it sucks overall that first zone looks fun enough to buy the game for. I really hope Sonic Team has gotten it right this time, so I'm cautiously optimistic about it as well.
And SHADDUP HATERS, at least they're listening to us a little now, and it's not like Sonic could keep sucking forever......right?

This game seems like the first Sonic game in a while to actually not have that many haters. In fact Sonic 4 has more haters than this game.
And for good reason I might add. Not to say Sonic 4 is bad, but this game gets it. It's original, uses surreal environments, and it's the first 3D Sonic game to seem to be filled with awesome. Now don't get me wrong, I love classic Sonic to death, but I feel like Sonic could be great in 3D, and he came close in Unleashed with the day levels, and since this game is essentially those levels on steroids I think we have a winner. I can't wait for this game, I haven't been this excited for a Sonic game in a long time. It's been 11 years but I think this time they got 3D Sonic right.

Still waiting for stage 2 of the sonic cycle to kick in. I'd say were roughly halfway through stage 1.
I'm really liking what I've seen of this game so far. I'll probably still wait for the review before I immediately jump to buy it, but I think between Sonic Colors and Sonic 4, at least one of these things has got to be worth playing, right?

I liked sonic unleashed if only for the day stages. I have a hard time imagining this game being bad.
Tell you what; I won't write off Sonic Colors if you don't write off Just Dance 2.
Though to be fair, I was already curious, but I'm waiting until I hear other people's opinions of the finished product. Like always.

Sonic 4 is in parts, meaning we are buying bits of a game at a time rather than the completed project (the simple solution would be to name the parts Sonic 4, 5, 6, and 7, if they were long enough to justify inividual numbers), and it raises a definite possibility of looking like the Half Life 2 situation. Sonic 4 is download only, so it can't be a permament part of our collection like Sonic 3 is. And the fact that it's both episodic and downloadable makes it seem like we're buying a low budget Xbox Live title as opposed to a 2D revival that can do to Sonic what New Super Mario Bros. Wii did for Mario.

I still have a bitter taste in my mouth from being told that this game was made for the kiddies, and anyone with descended testicles should play STH4 instead. Really shitty way to promote...but here's hoping the game itself is actually decent this time.

I'm not buyin into this. I don't think when a game has a record of bad games that callin this bad is trolling. Honestly, secret rings sucked, black knight sucked, and unleashed was mediocre. I love Sonic but I'm not gonna act like this is gonna be the next big thing until I play it. I mean we thought every other 3D sonic game after sonic 2006 would get it right otherwise we wouldn't be reading articles like this.
From what I've read, it's suppose to be the Sonic parts of Unleashed. I thought the Sonic parts of Unleashed were fun. I do plan to buy this game enough though it looks like it will be cluttered with power up gimmicks. It still looks fun and bright with alot of imagination in the levels.
As soon as the trailer began, I felt the hate, but I knew that you wouldn't subject us to that sensation arbitrarily. So, I gave it a chance, and despite the horrific music with bland voices modulated to the ultimate of blandness, I sat through it. As I was able to rationalize that it must be a 2.5d-esque take on sonic...a "side" scrolling platformer with a highly active camera...I managed to repress the hate, and trust that somewhere, somehow, someone who has access to the code in modern Sonic games also has access to a Genesis, or Genesis emulator, or even a GenericGenesis that comes complete with all the sonics...and they've actually played them. Welcome back, guys...sometimes you don't need to reinvent the wheel.
as long as as they don't make a gimmick mode like in unleashed this could be a great game and bypass the sonic cycle like rush and rush adventure
Personally, I love how they're doing strictly Sonic and Tails for this one. The nostalgia is overflowing.
Also, a lot of those clips, including the drilling one, remind me a lot of Mario Galaxy. Which is COMPLETELY fine.

I've been ignoring most of the haters for years. The only recent console Sonic game that I've absolutely hated was Sonic 2006, all the rest are at least decent in my eyes. It's the damn gimmicks that keep frustrating me. They're not usually unplayable, they're just unnecessary. I've had hope that the franchise could get back on track since the day levels of Unleashed, and I'm glad to see that's where we're headed.
Besides, I don't really see much room for error here. I loved the day stages, and everyone who has played Colors seems to think this is even better. So unless the final product ships with a bunch of game-breaking glitches, I'm not worried.

Looks alright, but the previews of Sonic Unleashed were positive too and we know how that went, if this is actually confirmed to be good on the review i'll bite.

@ Mortrialus - No, no, with Sonic titles, you must be cautiously pessimistic. Cautious optimism can lead to actual optimism, which is a really, really bad thing when it comes to Sonic titles.

Also, if the game has the "press boost button to slam your face into everything and win the game", it's still rubbish. If they take out the win button and learned to make good levels, I'll be optimistic. But right now it looks like Unleashed, which I was still not down with.

It looks good I just hope they didn't try and over reach like with the last few sonic games. Keep it simple. It does look a lot like sonice adventure . Which is a good thing to me that is. Well Here's to hoping it plays as good as it looks.

You know, I'm not so sure that Colors is in need of much defense. Ironically, it looks like Sonic 4, the game that's supposed to cater to the hardcore Sonic fans, is the one that is getting all the hate. Because all of the pressure and expectations of a good 3D Sonic game have been gradually deflated over the course of the past several years, people are willing to accept the possibility that this may suck. If it's great, we'll celebrate in the streets. If it blows, how is that any different from the way we felt when we played Sonic and the Black Knight? If Sonic 4 sucks, there's something so grave, so final about that - Sonic can't even be in a good 2D game anymore.
The truth is, I'm unreservedly excited for both. At first, I was cautiously optimistic for Colors, but the general reactions from the games media have slowly won me over. I am bummed about that shite music, though.
