Sonic CD was recently announced for digital rerelease on just about every possible gaming platform, with the exceptions being the Wii and the 3DS. No word yet on why the game is skipping a 3DS rerelease, though it's a safe bet that Sega is trying to avoiding competing with themselves in the 2D Sonic market with the upcoming Sonic Generations on the 3DS. As for the Wii, word has it that Sonic CD is skipping WiiWare because of the service's 40MB file size restrictions.
Sonic CD is over 80MB in size, so Sega would have to do some serious compression to get the game to fit on WiiWare. I'm sure they could squeeze the game down if they thought it was worth it, but chances are that no one would choose the compressed, potentially compromised WiiWare version of the game when it's hitting so many other platforms without the need of compression or compromises.
If you really want to play the game on your Wii, just pick up Sonic Gems Collection for the Gamecube. It's worth it.

I may do a post about it later, as it is easily the most surprising use of the 3DS's glasses free 3D display that I've seen yet.
I really hope the Wii U fixes the storage issue. Wii owners have been missing out on some good games, like Super Meat Boy, because of that.

It was one of those sweltering days in the Dragon Realms. Spyro and Cinder just finished packing their bags for their trip to Avalon. Spyro was really into cinder's new summer shedding, obiviously exicted of how she looked (yeah cinder's a chick.). Cinder noticed it too, obiviously seeing his gem bags stiff and his dragon staff stiff with arousement. Cinder blushed and casually trotted to a worked up Spyro. Spyro loses control and hovers over Cinder, proceeding to unleash the legendary dragon rage inside of her.

Still, that has got to be one of the greatest satirical works of art I've ever seen. Because I'm sick as well.
And Wii owners can just get the Sonic Gems Collection. It's not expensive used. Unless you have one of those stupid new Wiis.

I'm jealous of you. I got the game working on my PSP, but for the life of me can't fix the music. I have the Gems Collection, but portable would be awesome.
